@Kiki Canjar i think a lot of it is liability for the company doing the disposing. Lawyers are the demise of our society. If they gave a bag of expired by 10 days pretzels to a starving homeless person, a lawyer or activist group somewhere would find it abusive rather than helpful and sue. It isn't worth the hassle for big corporations to donate anymore. So ridiculous when all of us have expired food by a week or 2 and what do we do to avoid wasting it? We try it to make sure it is still ok and eat it quickly. Lawyers and activists would rather make a stink/ make a buck than actually help.

the military sent ship after ship of brand new military items out to the ocean and had them dumped, everything you can think of.clothing, tents, tools, etc. I knew a man who’s father was in charge of it before they left Europe. He said his father had survived the Great Depression and it was unfathomable to throw away anything that could be used but he had to follow orders. He came home after the war and got depressed due to having been a part of that.

I felt the same way! Until i finally did it, now I'm not really scared I only do it at night since theres no one around, I have found lots of stuff, you should try it! but try it at night when the stores are closed, in the day time is when you can get caught since the stores are open.
