Me, I'd personally cast the text-to-speech voices for both Garfield and Jon from the Garfielf videos.

That’s Paul Anthony Christie… He also voices the Moose from Moose and Zee from Nick Jr. and C.A.R.R. from Stroker and Hoop

I personally feel that he tends to get a lot of people just harping on him and saying that he's not good or whatever on a lot of things that's stupid, but in this instance, I absolutely agree that Chris Pratt is a bad choice and does not fit the role to deliver Garfield's voice. It just doesn't feel like it's believable; it's more like I'm watching Garfield lip-sync to a random narrator.

Frank Welker would done a good job as Garfield voice

Didn't you know? Hollywood (in most cases) doesn't care about Accuracy of the Character. So they hire a Celebrity to voice a character, not because of the actor skills, but because of their name recognition to push ticket sales. The Recent Super Mario Bros. this year is a Prime Example, hire someone Non-Italian, sounds nothing like the video game character, looks nothing like the character, but they do have name recognition thanks to the MCU.

Gonna be honest, all of your criteria listed are moot points considering: Mario's original VA was french (Charles Martinet) Mario's original live action movie actor was english (Bob Hoskins) Mario's original animated show VA was Italian-American (which is the closest they got) (Captain Lou Albano) Mario's current VA is American (Kevin Afghani) Of these, none of them actually looked like Mario And none of them sound like Mario when using their normal speaking voice (obviously)

@@GRIMLOCK07 you say that as though the "in most cases" changes things, when you highlighted the fact that "The Recent Super Mario Bros. this year is a Prime Example" Even if you are referring to the accuracy of character part, that does not refute what I said

Funnily enough, there use to be a time when they did care about voices accurately representing. When celebrity actors were hired to voice a character, they were done so either because they fit the character or the character was designed with them in mind. Otherwise they just used someone who could fit the role. Though yes, it was still dominated by white voice actors. Also, Chris Pratt has some big name recognition outside of the MCU, namely with the Jurassic World trilogy but also some minor roles prior like in Parks and Rec

I really don’t care about the voice as long as he nails the attitude and the one-liners.

My gripe isn't just that it's bad, but unlike mario where I could never imagine Chris making an accurate depiction, I can 100% see him doing a good Garfield if he just practiced more. Look at when he was confirming his casting for mario. That actually sounded slightly more garfield. But it's the fact that I feel he CAN do a good performance, but instead is giving THIS, is what's pissing me off. Like, he's not even trying to sound like Garfield, no attempt to lower the voice, and is sounding way too enthusiastic when he should be mellow and almost disinterested

Where was all of this criticism when Chris Pratt was voicing Emmet
@cc1355610 ай бұрын
well it made sense for Emmets character, he’s the every man and it makes sense for him to have a typical speaking voice. Already established characters like garfield and mario have very distinct voices that chris pratt just doesn’t seem to be channeling in his performances
