Today I'm taking a walk in the middle of the day towards the pier at Holden beach. It turns out to be much more productive than I thought it would be, and at the end of my walk I find a super rare shell!

Wow, a lions paw in N.C., that's awesome! Don't you just love finding a rare shell?! My favorite somewhat rare find is a completely intact Atlantic giant murex, perfect condition. Needless to say, I was thrilled! I had only ever found pieces, or half-broken ones. Our reward for our aching backs and all that looking down!

This was one of my nemesis shells for many years. Sometimes all you need is a little luck and getting out to a lot of beaches! Thank you for watching :)

Beautiful finds and so many! My rare finds happened in FL last month when I found an Atlantic Distorsio in the panhandle area on Shell Island and a piece of a Junonia about the size of my thumb on Panama Beach. I live in Idaho so shelling is a once a year event for me, if I'm lucky. 😅

Great video! I loved the dwarf olive that you found at the beginning of the video! It’s crazy how you were able to find something so tiny!! It’s awesome how you found so many olives and augers! I’ve never been to Holden beach before but I’ll for sure check it out considering all the great finds!! Off topic but after watching one of your outer banks videos, I found a massive knobbed whelk intact in Kill Devil Hills! It even has the orange interior!! Have a great day and keep up the good work!!!

Its auger and olive central over there. I always like looking for those tinies too. Congrats on your giant whelk find! I've been hearing the Outer Banks have been fantastic for shelling lately, I wish I could get out there again. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

I've found those very light olives too and I keep them, but I don't think that one would really fall into the "golden" olive category. Still an awesome shell find!! The leafy jewelbox was a great score and congrats on that lion's paw!! Isn't it so exciting to find those rare-to-us shells? Thanks for sharing!

I don't even think golden olives exist outside the Gulf of Mexico, but it was cool to see anyway. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on that! Those lion's paws have eluded me for so long, it was so satisfying! I couldn't agree more how fun it is to find unusual shells. Can't wait to see your FMB video!

Hey … coming down in about 2 weeks to do some shelling & shark tooth hunting 😊 We have never been down this early before & was Just wondering how cold the water is as far as wading around for shells & stuff? Didn’t know if my strapped sandals would be ok or do I need to get some water boots?
@shellstories3 ай бұрын
The water will be chilly, since it's been cooling off all winter at this point. That being said, I think sandals are doable if it is above 60 degrees. For this trip I was using rain boots and they worked well. However if you want to get out deeper, I would just recommend getting waders, since boots might flood on you. Have a fantastic trip and hopefully you'll find tons of awesome shells and shark teeth!

I have a video that is 95% ready to go right now. I have other work and responsibilities, and I just don't have the means to release multiple videos a week. They're coming though, I have many in the works!

Now why would you make a video of small tiny shells for the most part. Your video was not a a good one.
