I bought one of these after watching the same videos you did. I absolutely love this reel. I first used it with 20 lbs braid jigging for summer flounder but then discovered I could use it for much bigger fish. Going to be respooling it with 50 lbs braid for larger fish species. Also, I discovered their Alloy M and Alloy X reels and bought 2 of the former, and 3 of the latter in size 3000, 4000, and 5000. Great reels for sure!!!

I bought that same reel back in March but with the power handle left retrieve paired with a st. Croix mojo heavy power rod and 40lb spiderwire invis braid. I caught a 37in snook on my first night using it and it's become my go to set up for fishing snook at night since. Great review 👍 hope you enjoy the reel as well as I do, keep up the good work!

I'm a hard-core baitcaster person I went from spinning reels to casting reels , reason in my opinion I prefer casting reels is cus they cast farther then spinning reels , also casting reels don't strain my wrists , hands as unlike a spinning reel that does to me . Also more power and I like adjusting the Drag on a casting reel more

Sweet deal you got there! People might laugh, but Piscifun makes reels that are every bit as good as the Shimano and Penn reels that I also own! And they are much lighter than those Penn reels to boot! I have 6 Piscifun reels in 3 different models and they are all awesome reels! Best of all I don’t have to spend big bucks to get these quality reels!

Hey JC great video! I hope that 8:1:1 works for yah! I personally like a slower gear ratio 4.9.1 for my 400 size Daiwa Lexa. That slow ratio really allows yah to feel the bottom structure well, and a lower gear ratio helps with cranking power as well!

Brass gears are smoother than steel gears. Steel gears last longer if you maintain them. Even brand new reels should be serviced before fishing them. Shielded bearings are a double edged sword. Shields are supposed to keep dirt and water out. However, if water gets inside of the bearing, the shield can prevent the water from draining out. When I service a reel and remove the bearings, I remove the retaining ring and remove the shield, clean the bearing and pack it with marine grease on both sides of the bearing. You can replace the shields If you like, just don't let the retaining ring get airborne (they usually don't, but they can). I use a modified fish hook to remove the retaining ring on the bearings. Nice review of the reel.

That's cool that they wanted to participate. I like the 8.1.1. ratio. I hope it works for you. I love my bait casters. The specs on that sound good. Love the clicker on the tension knob. Also cool about tying the line on. Can't wait to hear you thoughts on it. Cool JC>

I just ordered one. Just built the rod and was undecided about the reel. Was going to get the penn, squall 300 LP. About 75 more bucks. Like penns , have 4 squall 15 SDCS. Fathom2 15 CS, Akois 565s. Im looks mostly for a top water rig. Maybe a good flair hawk rig too. Hope to hear about your experience with this reel. Love your vids. Local

great video. I was recommended to buy this reel and your video really helped. Let me ask you, this video is two years old, are you still using this reel and hows it holding up? One more question, what is the best length rod to use for this? Im buying this for my annual Canada fishing trip to hunt down 40+ inch Pike. Im looking for something legit and this seems to hit a lot of check marks.

I have two of these reels and they are working great. This is my favorite rod "Daiwa TD Sol Inshore Casting Rod - TDSOL80XHR." It's an 8' rod extra heavy power with regular action. Good video JC - great review. Sure looks a quality reel. I've tried Baitcasters here in the UK and can't get on with them. Same as our Multipliers which I think you call conventionals? I always end up with a birds nest every other cast. I've got a new Abu lure rod on order and my Quantum TG400CX would be great with it if only I was any good with it! Thanks JC - Stay safe & well. 👍👍

Hi JC and thank you for your awesome videos. I have a question would that be a good pair with the ugly stick gx2 6'6? Or is there a smaller reel for that size ugly stick? Thank in advance!
@RadReelingFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. You could use this reel on a GX2 if that's what you have and upgrade to a different rod later. This size baitcaster was designed for handling big fish and throwing heavy baits. The GX2 isn't the best fit for that type of fishing.
@aporra063 жыл бұрын

You are asking about a different world.The Piscifun Alijoz 300 is a Saltwater baitcasting reel and very powerful. So, we need to think in a Saltwater baitcasting rod. The GX2 is not Saltwater approved and the sizes 6.6" or 7 ft comes in two pieces 10-20 and 10-25 lb line capacity. The Alijoz 300 with 33lb of drag needs a rod more capacities. I paired the mine with a Daiwa Beefstick Saltwater Series 7 ft 1 Piece 12-30lb. I already own a GX2 but I used it in freshwater with a Daiwa or Lews Baitcasting reel size 80, 100 or 150. Don't sacrifice this reel for the GX2! Get this reel and get a better rod and use the GX2 for freshwater. In the lake or river you can know what kind of fish you can catch but in saltwater from the beach, pier or jetty you never know what kind of fish going to bite and we need to be prepared for the battle with heavy duty equipment.
