I worked in Airport Residencial and Cantonment too at some point before I moved back to Nigeria 🇳🇬 my country. My cousins father is from Kumasi and used to travel quite a bit for one burial ceremony or the other in Kumasi, but never thought to travel with him. I thought it was just one big ancient city from the little I saw of it in those Kumawood movies lol! I thought Accra was the main deal. Thank you for this video, it's a good thing you are doing for your country actually. The drone views show this was a planned city. Queen Elizabeth called it the Garden City of Ghana . I went and googled pictures of Kumasi in the 1950s/60s and it was well planned city built with wide streets and gutters and street lights .The well planned layout (which is the norm in all Western countries ) is what makes it look so unusual and wealthy looking because this type of city planning is not done in Ghana any more !! Most places built now in Ghana have no city plan ,people just clear land and build anywhere and from the air all you see is a jumble of buildings with no clear roads . So disorganized !!What is the department of city planning doing in Ghana? Why is it that all over Ghana houses are built all jumbled up without any clear layout of streets and drainage .

Some of the houses are gems but most of them are bastardized Western Greek Architecture with no taste (tiles galore and columns in all the wrong places). The issue with neighborhoods like this is the infrastructure-at least, this one has 70% of the roads constructed which is great but there are no side walks, street lights, parks, and other social amenities. The each one for themselves mentality doesn't bode well for good town planning.
@Frank-Bediko629 ай бұрын
The homes in where a live in Wilmington can the average cost $800,000 has only one sidewalk eventhough is bigger than Hill Top. Because the community is gated, there is very few traffic and also very few pedestrian. There is no need for many sidewalks because people just don't use them. What has architectural style got to do town planning which is more concerned with space and infrastructure?How do you know there are no parks, Street lights, public spaces, etc. I know they are, because I know the area.
