I once encountered an enemy mid playing this build with phoenix. If you can't burst him down quickly enough, he will own the opposing team with his high magic dps and dagon burst.

I've played some Phoenix mid and many match-ups are very easy. If they rely primarily on right click to CS you will make their life hell with fire spirits. Plus, it's so much damage you'll harass him down and often kill with a tower dive + egg at 6.

As phoenix main i think this hero so underated. I rose from 1k to 5k using this hero. And what i want to say maybe you supose to tell the new phoenix main that dagon as first item not posible everygame. Play as phoenix in 1-3k so easy since no one no to counter him. But if u already higher then that i think u need defensive item first since his skill already so big in early. You dont want to make dagon as early item againts drow or silencer. But definitely usefull againts troll or slark. Nc meta though

I fail to see how this is a "new way to play phoenix". You can pick any nuke hero and does the exact same build and get similar result. It has very little to do with phoenix herself. And you are essentially giving up your scaling so you only build it in stomp. But if you are stomping you build whatever and win.
