Bella, while at a few point trying to say her point, is often seen being subjugated to the whims of others, and is romanticised as not being able to care for herself or stand up for herself and needing Edward to care for her instead, very much like a child. If that doesn’t sate you, look to practically any form of anime and see how the girls are often much younger seeming, with oddly child-like voices, being very short, and just generally child-like. In many cases it is even admitted that these characters have the bodies of twelve-year-olds, and yet we care not, because perhaps they are immortal and have actually lived 1000 years, or whatever other plot device is used as a cover-up for the fetishisation of young bodies. I’m not going to argue that things like bdsm, where-in ageplay may be involved, are negative, and it is known for belle to partake in such activities, what I am saying is that we must be aware of our audiences and see that our actions can have consequences on how entire sexes are viewed. Belle is just a cog in the larger machine of problems in the portrayal of women in media. Thank you for your time.
