Very few people got rick on Bitcoin. It's just an alternate currency now, but back when it was a new thing and you could get 1000s of it easily... Some people just sat on wallets of bitcoin for a decade since nothing came of it, until suddenly it did. Most of those people cashed out quick and made a few 10s of 1000s of USD. But a few of those people sat even longer and are now millionaires. No one else will be getting rich like that because it's no longer possible to get 1000s of BTC passively.

Bitcoin is the only true non-centralized global currency... How else could you send money from yourself to a friend in Thailand? You'd have to go through either banks or payment services. Bitcoin miners are just providing processing power to the payment network thats the only way to be decentralized. Visa and Mastercard have shit tons of servers for their payment network. So much bitcoin appears everyday, and depending on the amount of processing power you put in determines your payout. Its super simple.

This isn't a solution to material issues. It's not like things are the way they are totally mathematically. Many people who hold a lot of assets/property, and the means to violently maintain it that way, have the final say in how things are, regardless of the quantity of cash or whether cash is printed or not. People lost value because it was just convenient or useful to that class.

@aetherionzephyrim29179 сағат бұрын
doesn't it ultimately require some sorta internet connection for being communicated/ added to the blockchain info? I get that the blockchain is effectively a list of verified interactions constantly updated by some computer or another in the network running the program, but I'm not clear exactly on how the network keeps updated or where the blockchain data lives. I'm imagining that an interaction between wallets/ entities can be created for upload on any capable device, but another device can't be aware of that happening unless it's informed somehow.
@jjsfourthphone8 сағат бұрын
@@aetherionzephyrim2917 do you think your debit card/credit card will work without internet?
@h8f57 сағат бұрын
@@aetherionzephyrim2917 Short answer is yes. Long answer is the network only needs a bridge to the wider internet at some point, but at no direct point to complete a transaction. So if any node anywhere in the network is getting data from satellite and connected to the internet, both networks will be in sync. The only thing you and the other party need is a satellite connection. You can do the same over ham radio which I think offers a higher degree of self reliance, since it can be argued that satellites still require the reliance of a corporation or nation state with a lot of money. If you have a scenario where both networks are severed, then the network with the longest chain (longest proof of work) would be followed. This could favor either network, depending on whatever scenario caused that to happen. Extremely flexible and resilient. You can also sign transactions with no network at all, and then later broadcast it to the network for inclusion in a block. Even though I have done so, It isn't really fair to call it both networks or imply they are separate. It is the same network existing on different avenues of communication.
@Aeduo5 сағат бұрын
This is as far as the video says, receive-only. You still yeah need internet access to interact with the blockchain. Just, you can do with a much worse internet connection since you can fetch the required initial data from here. Also, I'm not sure if you actually need that entire block of data just to trade bitcoin? Or maybe you do if you don't want to use a bitcoin exchange.

Very cool that you did this! Some more context: A blockchain from any distributed technology platform (not just imaginary money) de-risks with redundancy. That's why it's on a satellite. The imaginary currencies part we hear about everywhere is the incentive for people to opt into setting up their own redundant node. Successfully distributed blockchain technologies have effectively convinced as many people as possible to run redundant software/hardware that support actual services that people use. "Making money" is the only way folks have figured out how to convince people to opt in. I admire you HAM folks because you have successfully created a distributed network without a blockchain or a "make lots of money" series of scams. Although fear maybe one of the motivations which is not a fun business model. Ha! For the record I know people get into HAM for lots of good reasons other than fear.

After about 7 or 8 months he was a literal millionaire on paper, and then it tanked in 2014 where he lost all of his profits and his equipment investment was worth about half as much. Dumped everything he had to cut his losses. Today, one bitcoin is worth $100k Personal story, back in 2016 I went out drinking with a friend of mine who was obsessed with shitcoins. The blockchain is a ledger of every transaction ever done that is distributed to every node connected to the network since Satoshi mined its first block. Think of it as a banking ledger that is public that everyone can view. The miners use their computers to solve the nonce (puzzle) of the block. Once a block is solved, it verifys with the blockchain and if its good, it gets written to it if all nodes in the network agree. The process is called a merkle tree.
