Hi Karen! The "stool" is a plant stand. Great finds on the linens! The first is a Bowtie Quilt and looks to be Depression Era and 1930s fabrics. The second is a Sampler Quilt. The third is, I believe, a Lone Star (I get confused by all the star patterns). I'm a quilter and I so appreciate the hours and hours of work and love that go into a truly handmade quilt! That's why I often head for linens first when thrifting. I'm rescuing quilts to keep, sell and gift! Thanks for the video!

@jv-ep2tc5 жыл бұрын
me too!! you can get them cheap in larger sizes from China...probably from US sellers too. the new usps dimensional costs are stupid and I decided to fight back. I had a 24x24 needlepoint cushion that came up as 45.00 to ship to Florida. NOWAY. I vacuumed it down to 1/4 the size and paid about 12 bucks instead.

Looks like the wall vase is Delft, Holland. Duvet cover looks like Waverly, I have the same in curtains, but could be Lauren. Karen, you are blessed to have a Goodwill that hasn't yet entered the race by their corporate office to put many of their items in their own auction sales or their sales on eBay. Your Goodwill doesn't look to be picked over at all. Unlike our Goodwills in Central Florida. And prices are so cheap where you are. Those Allen Edmonds would be $14.99 at our Goodwill. The quilts again, would have already been picked over by management here and put up for auction, with instructions from corporate. Your quilt should get good money. Though shipping would be high. $4.50 for a hand made quilt is insane for Goodwill in any event. Your Goodwill is definitely the exception to the rule Karen. Glad you make the most of it while you can. Thanks as always for sharing.

Sandra Bentley Agree . Her Goodwill is outstanding. Ours here in upstate NY are overpriced and full of junk!
@sandrabentley14205 жыл бұрын
@@susanfontaine5214 because all donations are picked over first by staff and management and either sent to Goodwill centers doing auctions on line through ebay, or sent to Arkansas, I think it is, where they have their very own Auctions on line under the Goodwill name. Eventually it'll reach this part of Pennyslvania too, just a matter of time. That's why It's good to have lots of varied sourcing ideas and places, depending on individual areas. Still I'm happy for her that she has a Goodwill that hasn't completely sold out to greed. They seem to put everything out and not cherry pick. She gets terrific items and is very blessed to live in that area. But it is the exception not the rule I believe.

Thank you for the videos, Karen. You’re such a pleasant person, and I love learning about new BOLO items and your thought process with respect to your purchases. I’m not sure if your stool qualifies (age, dimensions, wear, etc.), but I recently sold a small vintage “milking stool” that I picked up for $2 at Goodwill on eBay for $60. If it doesn’t seem to be a milking stool, in addition to a plant stand, I think you could market it as a vase stand. Those legs make me think of a tall, ornate Chinese vase.

Hi Karen, so glad to see you are putting out daily videos!! We are going to get spoiled you know.. Just a quick story. I sold a quilt for 740. And 40. shipping. I went to an estate sale and bought the quilt which was king size along with a few others. The lady who made them had all the fancy sewing machines and this one was signed in sewing and named kaleidoscope and it had the dates from start to finish which it took two years to make it also had some hand sewing. Oh yeah I paid 35. For it, anyway I did look online to see what others were going for and I knew I had a nice one. I listed it for 780. And thought if it didn't sell I would keep it lol ( on a wing and a prayer lol). Anyway I got an offer within a week for 740. And I hit sold and couldn't believe it, I thought they won't pay for it, within the hour I heard cha ching.. I bought four from that sale but the that one was the star. I sold another for 120. And I still have two left. ( did I say a short story lol), the quilts you have shown are beautiful as well, I'll be looking to see how you price yours. I pick up quilts now whenever I can..xoxo Lori K.😄 🌷 🌸 🌷 🌸 🌷 🌸 🌷 🌸 🌷 🌸 🌷 🌸 🌷

I am on a coast, like you--but I'm on the west coast. I still list bigger, heavier things, but I find that they most often sell to buyers in Oregon or California because the shipping costs are so much lower than to the middle of the country or the opposite coast. I did ship something via FedEx the other day and was pleasantly surprised at the price. I'll certainly be starting to offer it as a shipping option on my heavier items.

Nice! Quilts are fun to find, I TRY pick them up if I can get at least $35 profit. I found two last week. The value will be in the age, rarity of fabrics, condition, workmanship, stitch count, & rarity of pattern of course. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a super amazing for quilt a good price in years. Be careful of over paying for “crazy quilts” everyone, for some reason they can be overpriced as being a crazy quilt, but they need to have special elements to command a high price and they can be quite damaged from the silk having dry rot. Happy hunting!

I found a king size quilt at Value Village for 23 dollars last year with some machine quilting, but it has many hand stitching, so feel it was hand made. Not a factory made quilt. It is in the lone star pattern, in a dark green and burgundy prints, and white. So by the colors, I think it is from the 90's. I still have it. I love quilts too much to get rid of them.

Awww how beautiful you are Miss Lady. I love the poodles. I adore anything Crystal, And those sticks are stunning. Yes, when I found my piece of French art I flipped out inside. I'm like this piece is not the prettiest oil painting but It's signed and on the back, it has the date of 1965 also somebody signed It's papers of authenticity. It's from a gallery in New York from 1965 or It may have been purchased in a gallery in NY. I was scanning the art on the wall then I saw the painting, Just like Dr.Lori said to do the I looked at the back. started reading that's when I flipped out. I haven't even checked it out yet. It's still in my van. LOL, I have an old Minolta camera, I need to put it up for sale. If I was you, Karen, I would put the Harley stuff up for auction, people love Harley and will pay up for it. I love quilts, It's a shame that people put all those long hard hours into making beauty like that and it goes for dollars now. Back in the 70's and 80's all this glassware and quilts were so costly it was almost a joke to try and buy any of it. I mean I remember quilts costing 500 to 800 hundred from like selling them word of mouth or craft shows. Antique malls had them priced for 1,200$ plus. It makes me wanna cry. If I had a place to store quilts and glassware I would buy as much as I could for my Mom but I just don't have a place to show it off. She loved it back when it cost so much. you know even a quilt top was pretty costly back then 250$ to 400$ each. Then you had to pay someone to quilt it for you. As always a great haul Karen.
@nancytracy94995 жыл бұрын
That Lone Star (or Texas Star) is still a quilt if it has a front fabric, back fabric, batting in the middle, and stitching to hold it all together, even if it's machine done. From the quick glance I saw close-up, it looks like it's a quilt, and absolutely stunning! Was that embroidery in the corners? I keep looking for quilts here, but never find any.

Have you ever been to a juried quilt show? Go if you get the chance. Some of the award winners and most valuable quilt tops are pieced together on machines (home sewing machine work is considered hand made). Machine work is not always a bad thing especially when it is the quit "top". A hand made quilt top made on a home machine is considered hand sewn because it is not done in a factory. Most people would prefer a home sewing machine made quilt top because it is so durable. Of course, the hand quilting (through the layers) is always the most desired but machine quilting can be beautiful and expensive, too. Piecing the top and quilting the layers are two different things often done by two different people. Many people that make quilt tops, pay someone else to quilt the layers together. Filling can be important, too. Antiques quilts were usually filled with cotton. It moved around and got lumpy over the years. There are lots of things to consider when buying and pricing a quilt -- what type of machine if any, how much hand work, the filling, it's thickness, the quilt's age, condition, colors, fabrics, artist, pattern, smell? all are things to take into account.Can you tell I am a quilt lover?
