We hiked up a rocky hill to discover some very old petroglyphs on very steep ledges. How did ancient people carve these 50 feet above ground? Why would they want to leave the marks here? Was this an ancient calendar or hunting instructions or a sacred place? It always amazes me how much work and bravery it took to accomplish this. #hiking #desertexploration #explore #climbing #ancientsites #adventure #archaeology #adventure #ancienthistory

Thank you, cactus is very beautiful when in bloom. We now have kingcup cacti blooming and prickly pear cacti blooming. And hedgehog also in some elevations. And down in the low desert the saguaro is blooming!

As I’ve said in other places; this rock art, in my humble opinion, was once at ground level. Pre dis(aster) cycle and the native people stretched all over that land, you can see where the ground was rent upwards in places and dropped in others. It would have been obvious and easy to create the images to communicate with others. Why would they put it in such perilous areas where most would never see? 🤔

I guess they were so used to climbing that these places did not appear steep or out of reach for them.

Those 2 petroglyphs @5:57 look like Ogham. If they are Ogham then it says D-E-M . You may want to take stills of them at night using LED illumination from different sides to bring out any details that might get washed out by sunlight. The orientation of some of these symbols looks lopsided, but that might be because the rocks got shifted by geological changes. That's why you want as many stills as possible to get the context and layout, as well as exact GPS coordinates. Based on the cacti visible in the footage this looks like the southwestern USA, and if this is confirmed to be Ogham, at that location, it could be as significant a find as the Gosford Glyphs, ancient Egyptian glyphs found near Sydney, Australia. I've personally met Mohammed Ibrahim, who confirmed them to be authentic. In other words, it's not at all outlandish to think the ancient Picts or Celts may have travelled to that part of the World.

Interesting perspective, but these petroglyphs match the Native American style in the area that we had seen. It looks like a human figure and a deer/elk facing the person. Elk and deer would be main hunting game in this area.

@@ruinsandridges That's fascinating! There's a possibility it was made by the same individual, or that the meaning of the glyphs is similar.

Every thousands of years or so a piece loosens and falls off. You can see the weak line of the stone where it's cracked. There may have been a place to stand years ago.

On another video they also found such modern technology in the wild. It was explained as relay stations for our wi-fi signals or something to do with our phones. They need a boost over the mountains and high ridges. The solar panel, of course, is there to provide power. The improbable petroglyphs were made centuries ago. In that time due to natural weathering-I could hear the sound of strong wind-rocks crumble, split, fall. The example on the ground may once have been up on the cliff face, or the rock was, fell, centuries later a hunting party carved on it. One possibility is the carvings were done as a way of saying “We were here. The hunt was successful. We thank the Great Spirit.” Similar to the numnuts who are impelled to leave their “Kilroy was here” except that their only hunt is for their own glory. In this way the ancient ones were telling others that it’s a good location for hunting prey. We forget that the native peoples were tribal: the community came first. They weren’t carving up rocks to say “Look what I’ve done, me! me great hunter!” They were making signs so that others could share their good fortune of finding food, or water, or indicating this was a good place to commune with one’s spirits.

I’m pretty sure that the solar panel and equipment with the antennas is a repeater for the private mobile radio band. You can tell that those two Yagi antennas are operating close to the 500Mhz band. If you drew straight lines out from those antennas one should intersect with a ranch house and the other with a cell tower. Total distance could be as much as 60 miles, maybe more. Did you by chance record the Lat/Lon there?

On a side note, and FYI, I have done a little research into these antennae and solar panels out in the middle of nowhere and have a possible answer to your question of what they might be. They have been seen now all over the back country and there are several possibilities. They could be a HAM radio relay/repeater station to bounce signals off of to increase their range, on that same point they might be a foreign entity using them for the same purpose. I live out in backwoods of Colorado, and they recently put a 5G antennae/node up at the top of our hill a year ago. I have not been up there yet to look at it but will do that very soon and will let you know what I see. Someone found 3 or 4 of them up by Denver and asked around to the utilities and phone company, they did not know anything about it, and not long after that authorities came out and removed them. A news station picked up on the story and reported on this but never did a follow up as to who put them up. Just curious as to what state you found this in.

Erosion of time. At one time there was more to the cliffs there, making easier to get to where the carving are. After time the rock give way removing the ledges where they would of sit to make the carvings. And shifting of the stone has moved the area through time. There could of been an earthquakes through the years, that have changed how the rocks are placed. Earthquakes are known to rise and lower large parts of land around the world. The edges of that cliff could have been lower the ground when carvings were made. So you see there are many things that can explain how some one could of be able to put them there.
