I got the creme box for christmas last year!!!!! I got a pink heart plush bag instead of cresent moon and the razors were all hello kitty with diffrent reds pinks and whites!!!!! And a different moisturizer in a tub instead!!!!! So yes it does vary at least a little

as someone who works in corporate retail (making things that go to stores to sell), your opinion of it just being leftover stock repackaged is 100% correct all items have terms for how long they can sell at a certain price before they go on sale. these boxes are ways to avoid marking down items and still make a little profit / off load extra stock. selling them as mystery boxes feels a little disingenuous to me personally… i’ve seen other brands repackage them and sell them either as advent calendars or like “2024 best of” boxes. this feels less predatory because i agree with you, i expect mystery boxes to have more exclusive items than just stuff that’s been on shelves all year.
