The five below chocolate advent calender is a classic!! Growing up these cheap chocolate calenders were the best. The fun part was flipping the chocolate over to see which picture you got! It always tasted like plastic & cardboard. It never tasted good. But it made waking up so much more fun as a kid, and visually seeing the countdown to Christmas 😁 In this day and age where there are fancy calenders they paaaale in comparison. They're mostly bought for the nostalgia factor.

My family still get me chocolate calendars every year. I don’t think there’s much point in the other ones to be honest. Especially with 3 kids they’d be way too expensive. I’m in my first year of uni atm and bought myself a chocolate calendar - who doesn’t love a little piece of chocolate when they get up haha.

I'm 28, and when I was in high school, my mom would have me pick one out. Was always so fun eating my little, tiny bad chocolate before school, lol. Even when I graduated high school, my mom would still get me one sometimes as a surprise.

My Grandma used to wash the plastic moulds from the chocolate advent calendar and then use it to make either ice cubes or melt (actually good tasting) chocolate back into it to make cute treats for us as kids

When I was a child growing up in England in the late 60s and 70s, advent calendars were a pretty glittery picture, often of a cute nativity scene or Santa. There was no chocolate or gifts other than cute little pictures behind each day. My brothers and I took it in turns to open the days.

Hey, so I make jewellery and can tell you that those are extremely cheap and irritating metals being used. "Alloy" is just a generic term used for a variety of base metals so things like brass, nickel, copper, tin, etc. And the fact that it says "gold tone" and not "gold plated" means that there may not even be another plated layer on top, which is what you would expect when using lower quality base metals. It has likely just been coloured gold, so it may lose its colour very easily. If any of those earrings have a separate component for the charm and the earring post/hook, you can replace those quite easily as long as you have a pair of pliers!

With cheap earrings, a quick coat of clear nail polish will help protect your ears from sensitivity! I personally use a pale colour on mine so I can tell when it starts chipping off and needs replacing but that's just me lol 😅

You could easily find almost everything in the Crème shop advent calendar at tjmaxx for like $30. It’s cute but like no wayyyyy it’s worth that much. It’s a nice array of products, not a lot of duplicates which is nice. But still. As for the hello kitty macaroon lip balms, I had one and I really didn’t like the flavor but I ended up scooping out the product and using the container as a little travel jewelry holder. It’s nice because it screws shut so im not worried about it popping open or getting squished or anything!

1:37 it actually started as ginger bread cookies in Germany I believe, then it became a picture with 24-25 different “pictures” in them. Like a circle or other lame things. Then chocolate calanders became huge. Now I few years ago skincare and items are becoming popular. Hope this helped or was intressting❤

Little late but to cut especially the last advent calendar some slack - really, that's what they are supposed to be: small, random gifts the giftee might enjoy while counting down to Christmas. Especially with something like a makeup brand where you want to show some variety of products, you'll likely just get a taste of something, so a sample size, and if you enjoy it, you can go and seek out the proper size at a store. If they were full sized products, that advent calendar would be even more expensive and not really obtainable for a lot of people, and more of proper Christmas gifts than a nicely packaged collection of these little gifts to make the wait a bit more exciting.

Advent calendars started as a religious calendar where they would contain a religious picture or bible verse daily, counting up until christmas. Something small to look forward to. It was Cadbury company (70s or 80s?) that first produced the idea to put chocolates in the calendars in which they were first popularized to the masses outside of the church community, which has evolved over time to where it is today where fancy companies will sell you anything daily whether cheap items, chocolate, collectibles, or high quality daily items. Defeating the original purpose and profiting off greed and gullibility ot consumers who will never be satisfied and simply want "more". To put it coldly/bluntly. It happens with a ton of holiday traditions no matter the holiday. Not a new concept. And, no hate to those who love modern advent calendars or those who stick to the original purpose. To each their own. I dont use them regardless and wanted to share some history.

My mom and I used to always get the classic $1-2 little chocolate Advent calendars! They always tasted like that, but it's still fun to see all the different designs. Even those dollar ones we got had varied shapes (tree, Santa hat, gingerbread man, sleigh, etc). So that Hello Kitty one was below the quality of a dollar calendar. V sad. This year I got each of our houses a Lindt chocolate calendar cuz that brand is *the best* chocolate on earth!

If you haven't already cut off the Hello Kitty x Creme lid to display it, maybe cut off the advent door side and reuse the box for storage? If it's too late for that then it's okay lol. I agree, it would make a really cute piece of wall-art/shelf display too! I also agree the Hello Kitty-shaped bath bombs should've been in that Hello Kitty Bath Bomb calendar (ALSO the Bluey one deserves ones shaped like Bluey if they don't have that, which I suspect is the case.) And yeah, they could've given a full set of the blemish hiding stickers and the blotter compact for the refills in place of the headband and the lip balms. OR make it a 12 day calendar which might bump up the price but I think you said the lip balms didn't cost that much lol I forget now. It's a shame the Jewelry box fell apart so much and that it was such cheap material... maybe if it was 35 bucks they could have fixed that problem and made the metals less irritating? Some Advent Calendars have reusable cardboard boxes instead of compartments with doors to be torn open.

With the jewelry material, quality is nice but quality isn't the same as quality in a sense. You could buy solid gold but if it's not 14k or higher it just shouldn't be worn as earrings or in piercings. Silver should barely be worn as outside jewelry. A lot of "high quality" fashion earrings aren't suitable either way, unfortunately, and sometimes less safe than the mystery metal plated steel stuff.
