I Found my Limit at Sedona's White Line

I've found warmer weather and east coast friends in Sedona, AZ where we are heading out to ride one of the most treacherous trails called The Hogs. Along this trail is the infamous White Line, and after heading up to look at it I have some thoughts about risk vs reward in mountain biking...

Wish I could ride MTB more. Trail running in Sedona was the thing I could do, and it's great. Once you get half a mile from the trailheads, you can go hours without seeing more than a couple peope -- even during spring break.

I'm about due for a Sedona mtb trip. I live less than two hours away from there. We always have fun when we ride there. The hog trails are sick. Sedona miles are definitely harder than most other places. Gotta hit Hiline next time I'm up there.

I know the Delano peak uses 148 boost on the rear, is your chainline 55mm by chance? if it is, that may be why you're experiencing the chain drops and breakages? Maybe try going down to a 52mm chainline and see if that allows you to backpedal with less consequence in the lowest gear. I ran into that problem building my last bike. the previous year used a 52mm, but this years uses a 55mm, and so I went with the 55mm because like... if the manufacturer is going that way shouldn't I? And I was dropping chains backpedaling to dyno stuff in the lowest gear like it was going out of style. so I swapped by BB spacers to make it a 52mm chainline and I've been fine ever since! Maybe worth looking into?
