It was aids to play way back when the Waffenträger line came out but it was the map where I got my first Acetanker on my beloved T-54, back when it could easily outbounce an E-75. Man, memory hits hard...

Habibi Chems, it's me an old lebanese veteran wot brother from another mother , the KV-1Sport nicknamed the KV-1S had the 122mm D-2-5 gun with -8/+25 Gun depression, elevation .I still remember from the old gold days of wot when i was playing my KV-1S on himmelsdorf top castle and a platoon of t32 refused to peek me because they didn't want to taste the soviet 122 mm communism gatov shell. Today i no longer play wot , one of the biggest reasons are maps and how they destroyed every dynamic map where flanking used to be a big option and made them noob idiot friendly with corridors. One of the most fun maps used to be old erlenberg, today erlenberg meta ->🤢🤮

I started played 3-5 month before they started changing everything, maps, mechanics etc. The one thing I miss the most from earlier is maps. Earlier there were N different ways to play a map. you could take a risk and get rewarded, but now all maps are played in exactly 1 or 2 ways. that's it. You try doing something different and you are dead. They took the fun out of everything because some noob cry babies cried too much.

Old Tundra was way more fun than new Tundra, which is the worst map in the game now. Still wasn't a great map, but at least it wasn't the worst one back then. KV1S was so much fun before they nerfed it into oblivion for NO REASON. I don't remember arty having multiple shell types. I don't think they added that until later. Or maybe it was just because I never used gold rounds ever unless it was a clan wars battle. I wouldn't say arty was more dangerous back then. It was still pretty rare to actually land a hit, and almost nobody played arty because the xp gain was literally about 1/10 of what every other tank could earn, so no matter how well you played it the grind was a blasted nightmare.

Oh and the crit thing is just anecdotal. I used to get ammo racked in my IS3 all the frickin' time, but that doesn't happen nearly as much anymore. In fact, ammo racks in general seem to be more rare now.

i stoped a few years ago because of the powercreep of more and more powerfull premium tanks with no weakspots. it's no fun with such tanks in the game. some of those tier 8 tanks are even stronger as their tier 9 counterparts and even those would need gold rounds to penetrate. premium tanks back in the day used to be balanced, not stronger as the ones you could research.

driving as a platoon of 3 kv-1s with the 122 mm was a lot of fun back in those days. fan fact: 2 of us never fully aimed with it and still hit AND penetrated most shots with it. the one who did fully aim mostly ricoched or even missed or just hit the tracks of a one-shot target. the true rissian bias of the game is: you don't actually aim the 122mm cannons, just shoot in the enemies general direction and the spirit of Stalin himself will guide your shell into the target.

It's not that the game was more balanced back then it was the same cancer as it is now, the reason it was more fun is because no one actually knew how to play the game well, and as time passed and people got better, so did their awareness about the games flaws. Add 10+ years of that and you get a frustrated playerbase.

Reminds me of my beginnings. i started in october 2011 with an invite code for the T2 Light tank. At the time, the American line ended with the T30 Also the KV still existed which could use the KV-2 Turret with the 152 or the T-150 107mm guns at tier 5. And on the way the tier 4 T-28 could use an 85mm. But also the matchmaking spread was horrendous when you could meet tier 8s with your tier 3 tanks. My favorite tank back then was the SU-76 (without M back in the day). Also i loved maps like Dragon Ridge or Severogorsk.

Reminds me of the good ol days with this game, didn't play from the very beginning but I was around when lights still got a 3 tier match spread. We did not use gold as much back then because the normal ammo was actually sufficient most of the time, then they saw the dollar signs and the rest is history. RIP T18, one of the most hilarious experiences wot ever had to offer. When pretty much everyone in a game played them, it was a good time.

@@JK23111 sure i agree i played it myself. But it was generally unhealthy for the game and for the new player experience in that state. It would oneshot every tier 2 tank while reloading only for about 6-7 seconds and having very strong armor and good mobility. You could say it wouldnt be overpowered nowadays and thats probably correct. But back in those days it was The Tank experienced players used to farm noobs in low tiers.

Oh man, I've actually got a lot of my old WoT replays dating back to 2013 laying around saved somewhere on an external drive for no reason in particular other than memories. How'd you go about figuring out how to run them? Did you have to guess which game version they were from and download an old client? Where'd you nab them from? If I recall correctly, one only needs to drag and drop the replay on the game's executable, but I haven't touched this turd of a game since like 2016. Would be nice to relive the good times and maybe record a few of the replays to throw up on YT.

Creepy how similar my experience starting out was. My dad showed me Jingles videos before I started playing the game and they got me hooked. I don’t remember my first video but I distinctly remember one where this Hellcat tried to jump on an ISU and killed himself in the process (on Mines I think), something Jingles called a “cunning plan.” I thought that was the funniest shit ever as a kid. Didn’t really remember Komarin very well before this video, but I can think of the tank traps and getting my shit kicked in there as the stock IS-3. Also playing that map in the BT-5(?) and asking my dad what “wtf” meant after seeing it in the chat, probably while stuck behind those tank traps. I think my favorite tank was the Pz I C. I was never good but I don’t remember regularly not having fun until several years after I started. Oh well. All good things must come to an end. Thank god I stopped being a loner kid before the game really went downhill. And I don’t think I EVER got sixth sense on ANY crews. I remembering seeing it in KZbin videos back then and being like “huh that’s weird” and did nothing about it for years. Just didn’t fuckint care lmao

The nostalgia is insane. I think i was like 8-9 yrs old, playing the same version from the video. Idk what was i doing on this game at 8 yrs old but i remembered so many things after watching this video. I remember researching the M3 Lee because i thought you could shoot with both guns after u researched it fully. I remember the Hetzer being a absolute beast, also the Panzer IV H as well. I remember wanting the KV- 1S so bad bcs it was so good while i was stuck playing the Churchill tank of the same tier, which was a way worse heavy. I remember going in the custom lobby on the map with the big bridge in the middle (ik its still in the game but i cant remember its name to this day) to try and jump on the middle portion of the bridge which was separated with my M5a1 Stuart or smth like that (my fastest and also only light tank). I also remember having the At2 and the Amx40 (medium) or smth like that which were impenetrable back then. Also, i remember hating the Amx Elc Bis bcs with certain tanks, if he would be close enough to your tank (basically hug your tank), u didnt have enough gun depression to shoot him, i remember that happening to me once and hating it forever since. So, so many memories coming back at once, its overwhelming. Cant forget people who couldnt be asked to wait for the enemy team to find me (last player so i was hiding as far as possible) so they would type in all chat my position so the game would end faster (in situations like 1v10, not every game), i remember playing the Pz IVb arty like a normal antitank bcs to me it made more sense idk why, and i cant forget trying to convince my friends to switch from Microvolts (a game like overwatch or smth like that, cant remember it clearly) to a damn tanks game and nobody would want to, i was the only one obsessed with tanks from my friend group. Nah man thats too much nostalgia from one single video thats crazy.

This is made funnier to me because of how much Jingles hated the Lee. So it influenced how a lot of people thought of it, the worst tank in the game and such. So it's possible you may have thought the same. I'd started off the game I think 1 year earlier than you at this point. I remember Komarin being "a new map" and I remember the Marder38t not being in the game initially, it got added in an update as an alternative to the Hetzer and I think it lead into the Waffentrager line, which back then had the infamous WT E-100. But yeah, I gotta say, this is very nostalgic to watch. You know what I'd be curious if you can find? Old El Haluf. Old El Haluf is NOTHING like new El Haluf. It's one of the maps I vehemently hated because back in the day it was 2 hills opposite one another and hull down heavies were kings. I remember thinking that was the most annoying thing to play in this game cause it meant you had to constantly be aiming at weak spots in a very static fashion. Flash forward to today... It's like every bloody map is old el haluf gameplay...

But M3 Lee had the most OP gun at its tier (especially the HE rounds) it was just slightly more difficult in positioning to play and more as a TD because lack of turret and the high silhouette… Most players can’t think for themselves which still is unfortunately true today and just repeat, follow what’s someone ie abit famous in pc game tells them … lol

Notice how most maps back then had smaller hills or rocks for side scraping and peaking rather than big hills for hull down. now it seems WG can only make a hallway map or a hull down map. there's not much variation. almost as if artificially changing the game to accommodate specific tanks.

I remember grinding tanks depending on the look, to be more exact, i went for the tech trees without even knowing what the hell am i going to play on higher tier and I somehow managed to find KV-1 (it was the prettiest “the tankiest - it resembles the tank the most for me, so I badly wanted😂😂” ) and is 7 was my first x tier. it was nostalgic.

I have those snapshot memories too. It's been a very long time since I played World of Tanks, but the OSTs, maps and gun sounds are so nostalgic. I had no idea why, but I started grinding all the LT lines than Heavies and Mediums, just because I thought I was going to grind every single tech tree in the game. I remember being in a Pz.1 C and shooting at the last enemy at mountain pass from far away, but friendlies got infront of my shots and me ending up teamkilling them and being banned for two days. Another memory I have was being in the Lunch with the 3cm gun unlocked and getting 4 kills. I remember myself shaking with excitement back then. Good memories.

I think the best thing of old WoT was we all interacted and played for the lulz The tanks were clanky, some maps were awful (some others were amazing), we had no damage counter so we just played to win, and the game was easy for new players to get in, although we always had sealclubbers like the hetzer, T40, alecto and such no one really cared

Until they finally stripped it of its fantasy IS/KV-122 gun. Amazing how the game is relatively slow paced, easy to read, barebone graphics but pleasant gameplay. I joined in 2012ish, 0.7.5 or so. If you're right, you joined post-Great-Arty-Nerf... The best patch to ever be released in the whole of World of Tanks. The legendary 0.8.6. Lest we forget. Feeling OG right now.

Damn memories and more i played beta and even alpha on RU server im in Australia so imagine the PING, the worst thing that happened to this game was gold rounds, back in 2011 we only used gold for clan wars. The dispursion buff 8.1 ? cant recall where it changed from 50% in and 50% outer circle also ruined game as it made guns too accurate which turned World of Tanks into World of Pixle Sniping thats all its been for over 7 years now. Game was fun when you actually needed to get in closer to ensure hits. Atm over $250,000 US is shot in gold/special rounds per day for WOTs coffers.

I remember playing the game back then and having fun. Now it's just "pay for more", play and repeat. It would be great to have exactly that game on a separate server, without the updates. No matter the old graphics, I would prefer playing that instead of today's game. I remember asking them to close my account for good back in 2016 because I was spending to much time on the game. Now I regret it, because since I made another account in 2018, I only have an extreme love-hate relationship with this game and from 6700+ point on the previus account i am now at 3700+. Nothing in it feels like the big gun BOOM on KV1S, or how you could play the kv1 and made 12-14 kills in it because it was almost impenetrable and you could roll them over in it. They nerfed and nerfed the good tanks, and now every s$$ty of a tank they introduce is briliant for half a year, then they introduce another one, nerf the previous and so on. In the 2012-2016 game period, when I had the previus account, I remember playing and loving KV1, KV1S, Hetzer, stug iii, Jagdpanzer IV, T-28, (the medium soviet tank), t-67, covenanter, cromwell, tiger, 110, wz-111, is-3 and so on. Now probably only the tiger is at the same level of fun playing as it was back then, kv1 could be summarised now as a penetrable boat, kv1s lost it's BOOM gun, t-28 gets squashed too easy, t-67, t-28 medium have insufficient gun power for the new tanks, hetzer and stug seem also underpowered, coventanter line is way more fragile before the new guns... every tank that shined and was fun to play back then either god a lower gun, more time to load the gun or/and target, crappier armor, more weak points and so on.. now, there are a lot of good things that happened in the game since then, gold rounds for silver, more tanks, better grapphics, etc, but sometimes simpler seems just better in terms of fun..

I miss old WoT so much. I started playing at the tail end of the .6 versions. I've almost exclusively played Tank Destroyers during my career. Do you happen to have any videos of the T82 with the 105mm howitzer or the SU-85 with the 107 ZiS? Map design is atrocious, nowadays, and basically everything feels like it is meant to force you into brawling. Because of my time playing Tank Destroyers, when I started down the American Heavy Line, the M3 Lee was very natural feeling to me. IMO, the M3 Lee was never a bad tank, people were just forced to play it in a different way that they were expecting. I always played TD's so I was used to having a fixed turrent. It was very comparable to the T40 without its derp gun.

My graphic is set to the lowest possible due to super slow wifi and 30 years old PC from my dad´s high school days. It could run the old wot when I started playing like 8 years ago, but now, I am playing with 13-17 fps and 200-600ms ping the whole game against the new superpowered hull down sh*t, trying to shoot their cupolas is like hitting clown car going 100km/h... It was no longer fun like that so I had to leave it and now I play only really occationally. Also all my friends left so noone in clan to play with. And as always, someone will say "buy better set", but I cannot, parents won´t allow it

fun fact, world of tanks blitz has kv-1s as researchable vehicle and it has the same IS style turret and the 122mm gun... while the kv-85 it's a premium vehicle with only the 85mm gun

Wow, no way! Look, I know this would be very hard to believe but I am pretty sure that this VK 20.01 next to you 1:16 was me. I swear it, I recognise that game because it was one of my first experiences playing on the same team as KV 1S and witnessing it's raw power right in front of me. And yeah, obviously I sucked bady at that game, not much to do on a tier 4 at the bottom.
