Ok Rob, I’ve bitten my tongue for so long but the octopus really put me over the edge!! Surely you can report this pet shop to the animal rights foundation in Florida. I’m in Australia so I’m not sure if there are other places to report but if there are you must report them! Please if you have any compassion for these creatures you must do this. It’s barbaric and they need to be called out for their practices. Me, I’d be going to the media about it but you probably don’t want the publicity but you do have video proof to show the proper authorities

Bobby, if you do that again, add clean water to your bucket and pour the water from the bag through the net (not into your bucket). Remember that water is going to be full of ammonia, so you want to get them out of it.

You have to be careful with discarded dog food and cat food because it could be something involved in a recall so it could be tainted. You wouldn't want any of the fish you keep to get sick. That is so wrong that they put an octopus in the dumpster, that is cold blooded.

Probably best to keep the bags closed until you can get them into clean water. The moment you open the bag, you release the co2 and ph climbs. This ph change converts the harmless ammonium in the water to deadly ammonia. As for oxygen, they survived this long and should be fine for a drive home! And you'll still get the opening bag clip when you have fresh water ready. Any informed replies on the topic (if I'm wrong or right) I'd love to hear.

That would be wrong... the main killer would be the carbon and water temp change. Thus the reason you are told to open the bag while your fish acclimate to the water temp. I hope this helps.

You'd have to open the bags. 😅 I dont just take fish and throw them in a tank with different parameters than mine. Any animals I obtain get dripped. The fish were in a no win situation to begin with. True the water quality isn't good...but it would be better to reopen those bags and reclose them with fresh air until these guys got them home. Fish can suffocate in bags. They need oxygen.

@@lisaramsey No. They fill the bag with air by quickly trapping it in the bag and rubber banding it. Theyre not using any oxygen except for the content trapped in the bag. If it runs out fish will suffocate. Thats why if I were these guys (didn't watch entire video) I'd reopen and trap fresh air for the ride home. If they're still alive they haven't been in there very long. Makes me think this video was absolutely prescripted...they bought all of those fish. Lol

It’s actually possible that this guy is planting these animals in the dumpster himself and then pretending to rescue them. I highly doubt a pet shop would do this and if they did, he should report them. But they Way individual bags are sitting in the dumpster and not all thrown in one big bag kinda gives me suspicion.

It’s so nice to see all the fish that gets saved but if you don’t mind I would advise you have a tank for new fish only so when you rescue new fish they go into that tank rather mixing your tanks straight away as if one fish sick it could infect your entire tank, then if healthy you can put them into their more permanent tanks, I love fish and kept them for as long as I can remember and I know a simple sickness can be a disaster for a tank
