I think that’s not true. We tell them where they can put there property all the time with zoning and taxing and other things that cause them to make choices. Why don’t we have incentives for cutting what would otherwise be waste by making it available to non profits? What is the advantage to any company to put things in dumpsters that some in the community can use? Get some good will going by organizing distribution of these things. Most of this stuff shouldn’t end up in our landfills. It’s both lazy and out of touch to let usable products be thrown away and destroyed.

You bet I can tell them they have to stop causing their neighbors to lose money because they clearly riotously over buy. That’s a problem that they have to fix because they created it. Do don’t be daft when somebody actually makes GOOD suggestions to help somebody out of a problem, and then end up getting some community good will to! Cops are aware of the amount of waste cuz they’re the ones who stop and ask the dumpster divers what their up too and see the things that get pulled out of dumpsters…some even o it themselves! In my town, the crew that drives the dump trucks to pick up the trash have it out for dumpster divers cuz they’re taking the loot that normally the workers get to rummage through and take home….I’ve caught them dumpster diving lol

If that is a DG the problem is that the Distribution warehouse sends so many boxes sometimes 2x a week and they just don't have the staff to put the stock. It sits in the back of the store for months. They are making room for other shipments to come in. I worked for a truckline that delivers for DG. The stores have no control over what they get or how many boxes. I'd just call the store and say you have 1100 boxes to arrive on your next truck. Sad. But thank God we have ppl to rescue and use or profit from the items discarded.

My older sister used to dumpster dive, was with her one night driving around and we found a massive dumpster next to a dollar general. They threw out the entire store. When items are Pennie’s out the stores are required by law to throw it away. The employees are not allowed to donate or take the items. This is our government doing such a great job to help people in need. Just throw it in the dumpster.

In some places, it's illegal to dumpster dive. Because the owner of the property, the dumpster company, didn't give you permission to take anything in the dumpster. When items are put in the dumpster, those items become property of the dumpster company. It no longer belongs to whoever put those items in the dumpster. But ya no, nobody obeys the law.

In New York State dumpster diving is LEGAL.....unless there are posted signs, no trespassing etc, IF it's posted than you can get ticketed for dumpster diving, but that's in NY, not sure what the laws are in other states lol
