I found my first confirmed piece of silver so far this year while metal detecting a park in Athens, MI. Finding a piece of silver always puts a smile on my face. After some research it turns out that this piece is called a heart style ear wheel and is part of traditional Great Lakes Native American silver trade jewelry. It is likely modern, but probably belonged to someone from the Potawatomi tribe which is still present in the area.
