Engineering knits is a place for people who enjoy all kinds of vintage and antique crafts - from sewing to knitting, crochet to embroidery I like to try it all. I definitely have a preference for historical fibre crafts, and it is my dream to one day make an entire outfit from sheep to sweater. I hope you enjoy watching me and my favorite companion, Nutella, struggle through some fascinating projects!

The short jackets look like bed-jackets. I could never understand why my older relatives had these beautiful jackets (some were the most beautiful hand knitted lace) and then only wear them sat up in bed, usually when they were unwell! Glad you use and enjoy them.

The "button holes" are probably for a scarf or a tie. A tie like a sailor tie would be really nice. You could just put it under the column and then cris-cross the ends through the holes

I think the button holes at the neck of the striped dress could be for a chain with buttons on each end. Someone else mentioned it might be for a scarf too. I would love to see you remake the fragile blue dress. You look beautiful in all the dresses, I think the styles really fit your personality. And your long curly hair style really complete the picture. Lovely vintage finds. 😍

That blue dress is incredible! I would have worn it constantly, had it been mine. It's no wonder that it is in such "well-loved" condition. I would definitely be interested in watching you make a copy of that dress. I think it would be like giving it a second life. 😁

I think the holes are for a scerf; you wrap it around your neck under the collar, pass it through the gaps and tie a decorative knot on top

The wrap dresses remind me of my first attempt at actual garments at aged 13. Two plaid blouses to match with solid wrap around skirts. Came out ok to wear to school thankfully. However couldn’t keep shirts tucked - learned I had a long torso too so from then on knew to add inches. I really enjoy all of your videos. Just popped up the other day - loved it and subbed immediately. I crochet but not knit so I applaud your perseverance with the stockings. I’m too old to start and probably wouldn’t live long enough to complete lol.

I don't see the link to your video with the wrap dresses. And I didn't find it when I looked through your previous videos. The 40's and 50's are wonderful silhouettes.

Wow, these dresses are amazing! I recently picked up a mid-60s minidress at my local vintage store and am looking to knit and/or crochet some era-appropriate accessories to go along with it. Great video!

The dress @ 5:02 😍 really cool. The wrap on the back of it looks good and neckline . Is it still possible to find that pattern? Your an engineer, definitely take a pattern from the blue 💙 number ! We'd love to see that process. The knit sweater pattern, very interesting, like the colours. Tfs💖 oh and bed jackets! I forgot about those lol pretty.

So many things! Gorgeous video and exciting fun stuff! Love the tatting that seems to be slowly taking over your space and the candle/magnifying glass thing is also super cool! Your "dream blue" dress is stunning! Really brings out the red in your hair. YES! Copy the blue dress! I agree with several others that having more info on the wrap dress pattern would be awesome! They look super sharp without the patch pockets. Fantastic knit sweater as well. Keep up the good work! Always love to see your videos!

2:08 I believe those kind of slits are for a scarf/tie (like a narrow scarf). It was popular some time in the 20's-30's but I bet it can be found in later garments too. The 20's-30's way would be to have very long tie/scarf to create the illusion of a tall and slim body. Also, I think it was quite common to use it with horizontal stripes (like this dress) to create interesting contrasts and, again, to emphasise a slender frame.

Where did you get that mug? And do they come in multiple colors? I’d like to get one for me (a knitter) and my sister (a crocheter). With that out of the way, I think that it would be fun to watch you copy the dress. It would be a learning experience for you and many of your viewers, and you get a dress at the end!

2:57 Could this one be 1950's maybe? The shape and cut (especially the collar and sleeves) and the chevron stripes just screams 50's to me. Could be very late 40's?

such a fun video, thank you for sharing (: the dresses are absolutely beautiful, particularly the ones you made. I would say that the striped teal and white dress could actually be from the 1950's, based on the style and flare of the skirt. who knows (: it could also be from the 1970's even, there was a huge revival of the 1950's style for a few years then. I'll finish with a random question to you? have you ever knitted a piece for the lower half of the body, such as a skirt or pants? I am curious how it would hang without the support of the shoulders... Thank you for the video again, hope you have a nice week and looking forward to your next video!
