I don’t like what Mercedes is doing anymore. It’s fine that they want to have a family design but what’s stopping me from buying the C class and it being just as good if not better than the segment above. At least BMW has a family design and they don’t all look the same. You feel the difference between a 3 series and a 5 series… just my opinion tho

Mers is only leading the interior design, but not practicality & build quality. Meanwhile the fit and finish, driving experience, sound proof and comfort is still behind bmw, audi & vw. Yes Mercedes has the biggest change in terms of the interior design, but that makes the previous gen Merc look out dated. Just look at the W204 W205 and W206. All 3 generations look so different in terms of design and build quality. W205 Build quality & fit and finish is so bad they can’t even fix the problem after the facelift. That’s a shame. If u take the E90, F30 and G20. They modernised it but still can preserve the classic bmw design, and still able to maintain the solid build. I feel like refining the existing design you have and make it better the next gen. Same goes to how Toyota perfected car making with kaizen. Rolls Royce is an example, they don’t need super fancy interior design, or crazy pointless latest tech etc. All these years the interior exterior still looks like the original rolls royce. But it’s still the pinnacle in automotive industry.

I wonder if you found out how the change the screen options where you had the G meter. Th button to change the screen options is on the left indicator stalk. In Australia you can get a bowers and wilkins audio system on a G20 550ix. There is a key or small wallet compartment to the driver’s door side below the steering wheel.

the wireless charging pad doesn't fit iPhone 13 pro max with casing!. funny thing is this BMW can unlock and start the engine without key by put thing the iphone in the charging pad. But it doesn't fit the pro max 😭

Hi Bobby great review! I've actually been looking to get one since they launched this here. Recently I was told by a sales agent that they are gonna cut the laserlights and the 360 cam from the 2022 model year units. And since then, I have been comtemplating on still purchasing one. I don't believe there is a reduction in price eventhough they are cutting the spec. I have 2 questions for you. 1. Is this still a good buy even with the spec cut? 2. Is it common practice in the industry to launch with good specs etc. then wait a year once all the reviews and press are done then quietly remove items?

1) buy first than spec cut later . 2) mercs e class W213 today is quietly removing items on E200 . Prefacelift VS facelift . W212 prefacelift to facelift was a big upgrade .

Even Proton X70 (C segment SUV) can include nappa leather seats with ventilation. Why BMW Malaysia not include that in their above D segment sedan & SUV (except X7 & 8 series) but in overseas spec their included as standard or optional.

hi as a fellow g30 lci owner, the normal lights are already good enough so laserlight aren't a must but I would highly recommend you to get a spec with 360cam as it is super helpful when navigating/parking through tight spots.

@@Yddp3307 I'm not sure because Passat Elegance which Bobby drove briefly 2 years ago came with passive suspension and 18" wheels while Passat R Line comes with 19" wheels and Adaptive Dampers (Comfort to Sports absorber setting). So I am not sure which is better

I don't think I've ever come across a bmw that has seat belts height adjustments. It's pretty weird. Either you get uncomfortable with your seating position or with the seatbelts cutting into your neck.. Heh!

The biggest drawback of 530i is what a shame. Price 400k but seat is fake leather which is rough and hard like Passat Elegance, Accord and W205 C Class AMG Line. Come on for 530i touted as premium, it should get Nappa leather. Like Passat R Line, Arteon which are way cheaper but have plush Nappa leather. Even if no Nappa leather, wonder why Beemer leather is so hard and definitely not so comfortable. Even Camry with normal leather feels so so plush and comfy.

Compared to a passat b8, this csr have so much flaws : 1) the suspension. In a passat, there's a difference between comfort and sport. In the bmw, you can't really feel the difference. 2) the digital instrument cluster. Maybe I'm used to a round cluster. But this hoffmeister kink shape, you can't really tell what speed you're going unless you look at the digital number. And the info it shows needs a manual to decider. If you own a b8 digital instrument cluster, you'll know how straight forward it is, showing travelling time, distance and etc. 3) the giant A pillar and the side mirror creating a big blind spot. 4) the annoying rear air con vents. Instead of buttons they decided to put 2 huge protruding knobs. If you have a kid, you'll be cursing your way through your road trip to penang. Everytime they kick the knob it changes the whole air cons temp and fan speed. There's no way to lock the rear air con vents like a passat. 5) you can't put a 1 litre bottle on the side door bin. How annoying is that. It's still a great car to drive. But it's a wonder how so many car reviewers missed these points.
