I agree w/ wanting starters back. After playing the Alpha, it was nice having an item that felt appropriately tuned to my ROLE. It was annoying playing support when they only had one item really tuned to assist and it was only minion assist

You can sign up for it on Steam, but I don't know how many people are getting access via that vs the Founder's pack. I know at least my friend and I didn't get in, so I just bought us the pack to play.

I think wanting starters back is such an L take, especially the upgradable ones. It basically forces players into only having 5 items since you MUST have a starter, it's basically boots before they were removed. Removes so much complexity from building if you just have must buy items filling up the slots.

This. I feel like while this guy offers some good info for the game, he seems a little too attached to the cookie cutter builds of everything that made me stop playing Smite 1. He calls everything that isn't what he considers meta to be trolling, and while there are definitely builds that you could call trolling, I think deviating a little bit to try things and getting called a troll for it is shitty. I want to see Smite 2 make changes, and what I've seen has me hopeful for that. I really like that they got rid of classes and magical/physical items and are mixing things. I like being able to play AA Zeus and not building much Intelligence at all, taking a hit to my ability damage but absolutely pumping my AA's through the roof. Hell I was looking at trying a bruiser Neith build. It reminds me of the game I started playing in beta, where my friend and I could play Agni support and Poseidon ADC and still win lane. I'm sorry to say, but I think this guy is part of what is wrong with Smite now, especially conquest. I want to love conquest, but every time I played it I'd get called all sorts of nasty shit for not knowing all of the perfect META shit and it just drove me away. Wound up playing 75% 3v3 Joust because of it, and eventually just became disinterested in what the game had become. IF I were to suggest any kind of starter items being reintroduced, it would be something that would give you a minor benefit to your roll that you could sell later. Like Bumba's giving Mana and HP when killing jungle buffs. That or making a T2 that you could buy right off the bat that built into other items, but it's not something made to help you all game long and it's not so good that it's a MUST TAKE if you are in a certain roll.

It's not because rn there's an identity crisis. Bring starts back and classes have a clear outline for what you should build around optimally. That's how it feels anyway.

@@silvera-00 They are adding a chart to each god that will show what they are good at to make understanding them at a glance easier. The chart will show how well they build with Strength vs Intelligence, and also show one for Attack Damage, Ability Damage, and Defense and for each of these 3 they show how they start vs potential. I hope we get these more filled out and available outside of the god picking lobby for the next test to help with that, but I much prefer this over god classes which were never very well designed.

@@TheElectrikCow haha ngl I have my own thoughts on Intersect cause he blocked me for playing "META" against him in ranked back in s5 😂 so I think he just picks and chooses what's convenient, a bit like DM but minus all the toxic raging. That's kinda what I'm hoping for as well, really miss my s1 Hel Solo that got me to masters for the first time. I think being able to buy a t2 at the start is a good idea, there's something I don't like about starters that have to be sold later for some reason, breaks the flow of the game for me but it's just personal preference, there's nothing inherently bad about it.

@@patrickwitek Yeah I get that, personally I don't really think the game *needs* starters, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to make items that reward you for playing a certain way. I may not like all the META talk, but I don't see anything wrong with subtle nudges towards a certain direction. Like rewarding a person for clearing jungle camps, or rewarding a support for getting minion assists.
