Not the Sunday evening viewing I was expecting to be watching 😂

The right choice again on kit I think - no chems or holes in the van... It's just I chose the wrong time to watch it, over breakfast! Great vid.

Very nice idea and does look a good toilet but the price for it is way to expensive for what you are getting. 1 bucket, 1 plastic bottle and a toilet seat. That's really a rip off. But I suppose you got yours for free to promote their's.
@tpax3p16 сағат бұрын
Agree. Very expensive bucket
@abucklife14 сағат бұрын
Yer fair one. They do do a diy kit which is fairly affordable. So you build the base.

I built mine, into a bunk, lift the seating cushion, theres a plastic toilet seat, an old bird feed bucket, with bag, a she wee and a half gallon drinking bottle, they're sat in a cat litter tray in case of drips. I have white vinegar in a small plant sray bottle for cleaning drips. The whole lot was less than £20.
@abucklife12 сағат бұрын
White vinegar is the one for non chemical cleaning. Ginny loves the stuff.

@@abucklife yeah, my Mrs buys gallons of this stuff!

Sold... I'm in, I'm going to get one. I'd love to know how you have secured yours in the shower room.. do you mount it to the wall some way so you can remove if when you need to whennusingbthe shower etc..?
@abucklife11 сағат бұрын
To be worked out 😅 i will let you know what I come up with I think I am going to find some super strength suction cups for the back to the wall.
@bradlock7611 сағат бұрын
@abucklife Excellent, that's a good idea, securing the loo is an important factor when doing a decent shower/toilet room.. its something ive thought about... Less holes in the walls the better... I like how sleek they look, yes I know they are only for doing our business in lolz but if we want something decent in a van build we've worked hard on & spent a few bob on building, then why scrimp on something like this. Apologies for the typo above ☝️ Loving this build, you've been an inspiration man, Thank you.

To be fair to chemical toilets, I've never found that decent toilets (Thetford and the like) smelled of anything except the chemicals. I agree though, I changed to the Trelino, and it's much more convenient to clean and to dispose of the waste. It's also lighter because, as you say, you don't have to carry around 10-15 litres of water and chemicals which is a plus point for camper vans. The only negative for the Trelino, is the price - the cheapest model is around three times the price of a comparable Thetford.
@abucklifeКүн бұрын
They are not the cheapest but the quality is spot on and I like how they have considered the design, function and aesthetic. You can always get the diy kit which is more affordable. 👍

Think we have a ‘Trelino’ from germany, Similar to Boxio. I use coconut dust for it, It’s been good. But relatively expensive for a box 📦

We plan to use coconut husk when we are on the road.

We looked at that. What do you think of it. I ruled it out as just looked like a crate.

If you have IBS unfortunately this won't work at all as no separation between solids and liquids. That and just as gross a cleanup and grosser cleaning of the bowl itself means chemical is better for IBS sufferers I think.
@Defender200tdi11 сағат бұрын
At the end of the day they shouldn't be called a composting toilet, your still dumping in a bucket and peeing in a bottle. Cheaper to use a chemical toilet and place a bag under the seat, dump wipe and tie off the bag. I use the food waste bags some councils supply. For emergencies, ladies and small people you can have the chemical loo charged up just incase. Extractor in the bathroom will deal with any bad smell.

500 quid for a plastic bucket with cat litter

Agree 100% on the chemical toilets, even the thought of emptying them gives me the heeby jeebies. I went for the Joocla Gotta Go composting toilet. I looked at Trelino but was too expensive for what it is, how can they justify £200 between the two sizes?
@abucklife14 сағат бұрын
Same it’s rough isn’t it. What’s the joocla like?
@Rudedog112 сағат бұрын
@ it seems decent, haven’t used it in the wild yet. The rear ‘aperture’ is narrower than on the Trelino so might need a bit more cleaning!

Massively over priced but like the idea of the composting toilet
@vauxscottКүн бұрын
I can't see why they get called composting toilets, nothing gets composted? You crap in a bag then chuck it in a bin. Gross. But I suppose it appeals to the just stop oil brigade, the word composting is marketing genius. The other issue I have with these things is the price, absolute madness. Its a plastic bucket with cat litter. Each to their own....
@abucklifeКүн бұрын
Yer totally agree. I suppose you can compost it if you want to or if there is the ability to. I’d say they are are a similar price but I like the design of this one. They do do 😅 a diy kit to make your own. Long term I will hope to see they are made of quality plastics that don’t stain with piss etc.
@stuartchapman517113 сағат бұрын
How to compost it? I carry a spade. When I drive past quiet woodland. I dig a hole and bury it. I buy compostable kerbside food waste bags, use saw dust. Dog s^!☆e bins, on the rare occasion I'm not passing any woods, I deposit my bag in there. Im out in my van a lot, often on a cheap site with toilets if staying two or more days.
