This is the best EU travel video on this topic I’ve seen - the formatting is great. This is the first I’ve heard of the CRIT’Air Vignette and the Emovis tag - sounds really useful. Do these items/documents cover all EU countries or is there anything else you’d need for other states?

To be honest mate, the point of sound deadening is to add weight to the panel. That therefore changes the panels resonance frequency (lowering it). You went for the lightweight version, therefore not as good. But, it doesn't block noise as such, it stops the 'boomy' noise.
@abucklifeАй бұрын
Yer makes sense. The thermomliner and hex have worked a treat though.
@SageSprigWeddings28 күн бұрын
Hex is used in a LWB due to the weight. If you start filling a LWB with Deadn Pro or similar you are going to be packing way too much weight over the full build.
@CalMUK9128 күн бұрын

I used the thermoliner on my build but have found it does peel off from the body after a while of being in the sun and heat, probably not a problem in a white van but in a black or grey it does attract heat from the sun. Noticed this this week taking a couple of panels off to add some wiring.

Who ever is converting the van do think about weight. I have gone crazy with dodo matt in all spaces. Van is solid but half way theough i am overweight already. It is a miracle as i do not understand where the weight is coming from. Most likely will be removing all my hard work to save over 100kg
@abucklifeАй бұрын
Yer wow. We only used a box and a bit. You may need to up plate it.
@nirwinАй бұрын
I would not have bothered with dodomat if I were to do it again. I put some closed cell foam on top of the dodo mat to act as a first line of defence against condensation. The foam does a pretty good job in combination with insulation packed against the walls, and the dodo mat is also 20kg in weight. Which is a lot when weight is everything.
@abucklifeАй бұрын
I am really impressed with the thermo liner pro I to wanted a good thermal break between the van walls and inside. I think that does it well.
@vincentzielinski7157Ай бұрын
We travelled nearly 40k miles without sound deadening . No-one has ever banged on any of our panels and our van has no problems . External noise can be greatly reduced by shutting windows whilst stationary . We have never noticed any sound caused by vibration while moving . 2019 Ford transit . Dark coloured vans absorb heat thats why manufacturers of motorhomes and caravans usually use white .

It does do something but I agree you might not need need it. Everything we have put in has really made it quiet on the road though.

Wow what a great journey! I'm super impressed with the amount of work and prep you guys have done so far in all your videos. It is starting to take shape and look the part, realistically it is a blessing to be able to work on it in stages so you can see what works for you in your layout and adapt or make changes. It will be interesting to see how you combat the sealed spaces to allow air circulation between components. I have been watching some great 8020 aluminium profile van builds for bridging areas like your galley kitchen, shower and under the bed etc, lightweight but ultra strong for creating individual modules that are accessible / servicable mounts for your tank, solar, inverter etc. Can't wait to see more!
@abucklifeАй бұрын
Thanks for following the build 🙏🙏. Weirdly I have just been experimenting with the aluminium profile today I will post a pic in a minute. I am building a bike pull out draw for the garage. First impressions are good but not as light as I hoped. Hoping the 20/20 profile is a lot lighter than the 30/30. Hopefully have a video for the bike draw in a couple of weeks. 🤘
@M8T1-RDTАй бұрын
@@abucklife Nice! apparently the 2020 is a lot lighter due to the thickness of the inner walls, plus there are a load of fixtures for it compared to the 3030. As long as anything weight bearing such as the draw runners are heavy duty, some angle or double bracings across any long bridges it should work fine. Looking forward to see it. From what I have seen if each of the modules are stand alone it makes it a lot stronger and easier to maintain.
@abucklifeАй бұрын
@@M8T1-RDT I hope so. Weight is going to be an issue. I am going to order some to get going with it. Once the bike tray, water tanks and bed are in then it’s kitchen and bathroom structure.

My wife is a childminder so when it comes to changing nappies she knows her shit.
