Here is the truth, Stereo headsets give way better special awareness then 7.1 with also having a better clarity of sound. The Corsair HS80 Max ain't going to come even close to Bayer Dynamic DT 700 Pro X and let's not even talk about Sennheiser HD 800S. Then there is repairability aspect of it which DT 700 Pro X and other Bayer Dynamic headphones are known about, they are build to last, very long time, hance the ability to replace anything on them and that makes them incredible value for money which Corsair will never match.

Review after using it for 2 years: the earcup cloth came off after 1 year of use, mic doesn't turn on anymore, Right side swivel joint went 360°. And it's too heavy and flat sound. No heavy bass. It's flatter than Cloud Alpha S.

Ahh, that sucks, I'm sorry. Mine is still going strong after around 5 months, no issues whatsoever... Definitely reach out to their customer service, even if it's out of warranty. They're usually quite good either with a replacement or some kind of refund.

I’ve had the original HS80s (without the Max - no Bluetooth connectivity) for about 4 years now and still as good as the day I got them. I only play with them on console and agree it is a shame that it doesn’t carry over any PC settings to the console, but the surround sound is still incredible. For info, one of the ear pads did split after about 18 months (due to a glue failure) but Corsair replaced free of charge as was within 2 year warranty period. Great review!

My charging port broke. I had it for a little over a year, best headset I ever had though sound wise. With the right EQ these are insanely good pin pointing enemies. I can tell when people had bad headset and can't hear me when I can hear them near me. Dolby Atmos makes these sound 100x better than they do right out the box. Out the box they honestly don't sound that great. You need the right EQ and Dolby Atmos enabled to make these sound crazy good! Bought another pair off Ebay for cheap. Get some new bigger ear pads and they change the sound for the better also!

Pros:- Sounds: Great for gaming and music Bluetooth: Amazing, could easily switch between my PC and phone. Cons:- - Ear get easily hot (if you live in hot weather country like mine) Hope this helps 🤗

Looking to start streaming again and i think its time to upgrade from my old razer kraken v3 haha.. its on its last cord literally. Ive been looking at the hs80 max vs the original and ive heard mic quality has dropped compared to the og, as well as not being able to use it as a wired headset; needing to plug in the dongle. that doesnt really bother me too much though. i think the audio customability, comfort, battery life and improved range might sell me on the hs80 max. Thanks for the review, I think ill wait till black friday or cyber monday to get a pair of these.

My dad has also got a virtuoso and he said it was better than the og hs80s that he used to have, although they're a bit more clunky than I'd like. He also complained about the range as well on the hs80s. I think the max will be worth the extra cost.

I definitely would love to check out the Virtuoso's at some point. The main appeal for me is the 3.5mm jack, particularly for using with audio interfaces.

You can! It doesn't have any wires functionally (listening to music via USB C), but it can charge while working normally, wirelessly. 🙏🏻

In terms of headsets, this is definitely the best one I've tried, but it depends on your budget. The Virtuoso (by Corsair) is meant to be one of the best in the world, but it's even more expensive than this. The Hyper X Cloud III is pretty awesome, and a bit cheaper than this, then for anything else I'd go for something made by Razer.

Nope, I'm afraid not. That's my biggest complaint about this headset. The Virtuoso has pretty much all of the features this one, better audio quality and can be used with a wire... but, naturally, it's more expensive.

I think it's all subjective. Four months later, I'm still using these for everything at home, haven't found anything better yet. If you're more into music production and suchlike, might be worth checking out the Virtuoso.

If they fixed the battery being absolute dogshit, not in time played, but time lasted, then this could be good. But having headsets like the HS70 and Void known to have failed batteries after just two years without RMA and being a 20 buck fix off eBay is fucking disgusting.

Get a EPOS Sennheiser if you can still find the GSP670 for around 170AUD. Blew my HS70 out of the damn water on sound and the battery still works.

*This is paid advertising!!!* Take a look at “neutral” reviews from people who, for example, also deal with the harman curve. And that's difficult because Corsair seems to have paid a lot of people. I had the headset myself and every criticism that was said by neutral testers (and they were always the same) was true! I don't want to make it bad in general. For the price it has a lot to offer (features), but the main points that matter in a headset: - Sound (muffled, has bass but it also swallows the highs, which is why it is muffled) - Comfort? It's just too weak compared to the competition.

It's a gifted product that I specifically requested. Corsair didn't pay me a penny, nor did they have any influence on the script. They didn't even get to see the video - nor the script - before it went live on YT. I really don't understand all of the comments assuming that because a company was kind enough to send a creator a product, it needs to be influenced. It's marketing for them, sure, but if it was terrible, I'd be more than happy to give them hell, and advise you not to buy it as I have with other product reviews. To cover your points though: - The sound doesn't seem muffled to me in the slightest. I haven't had a chance to compare it to "professional" studio headphones, but in terms of headsets and devices I've had a chance to use - various headsets by Razer, SteelSeries and even others by Corsair, and headphones like the Sony's WH-1000XM4 (which were my daily drivers beforehand). Perhaps the EQ settings helped finetune things to suit my preferences and not yours. But, certainly not muffled, from my experience. - Comfort is something I addressed in the video. 6 months later, having used these every day, there's been no point during editing/gaming sessions I've had an urge to take it off. Is it a remarkable, life-changing experience to wear these? No, it's a lump of aluminium on your head. But, as I'm sure you're aware, typically the better audio quality you get, the heavier the headset. - Mic quality, as I've seen a few other people address, is great and I hope I demonstrated that well in the video. However, it's not as good as the previous model. Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a high-budget mic, it's between this and the Virtuoso (mostly because the lack of a 3.5mm jack is the biggest letdown IMO for the HS80 Max). If you have any recommendations for people looking to buy a decent headset, feel free to leave your recommendations though. I absolutely get that you may have just had a bad experience with this one, but please make an attempt to be useful, rather than assuming every creator making a review is doing it for a paycheck.
