i'm using Manjaro Gnome on an HP i5 7th generation and i don't have any issues. the only noticeable issue is the battery. mine is running maybe a couple of hours only. on the contrary it's asecond hand laptop and a new battery might be needed. of course it's different when comparing side by side but in real life some surprises may occur. i installed a Linux Mint Mate on my daughter's over 10 years old macbook and it's running like a Lamborghini diabolo.

lemur pro's fan noise is super calming tho, it's like having a personal white noise machine while you work... if you're into that sort of 'calm' chaos. reality check, guys: nobody uses fans as a selling point. 😝

As a matebook 14 2021 user, it works very well in Fedora 41. Everything except the fingerprint works, and battery life is on par if not a bit better than windows (but it is really bad, around 4 hours max... )

Seriously, who in their right mind buys a laptop for the battery life? Just keep the charger plugged in all the time. Are people really hauling these bricks around expecting them to survive without juice? 🤣

Who buys a laptop just to keep it plugged in. Get a desktop. Laptops are for portability, and should be fully useable without a charger.

@@df3ytasahi Linux runs on Apple silicon and they are working on asahi spins of different distros, the flagship being asahi fedora. However, on their website I dont see any support for M3/4 yet, only M1 and M2.
@Joel1111113 күн бұрын
App support for Linux on ARM is a bit spotty and you have to resort to using web apps (like zoom, for instance) in many cases. It’s like 95% there, but the other missing 5% can cause a bit of pain. External display output via USB-C also is not yet supported as far as I am aware. There are many reasons why someone might not choose to use Asahi.
