The 2.5% will be left in SGD! You can withdraw that amount, no probs. If you don't want the buffer, just manually convert the SGD amount to USD each time after topping up before the RSP happens. Set the ETF RSP in USD too if you choose to do it this way.

My assets/holdings in FSM are in my single name account. When I passed on, my beneficiary (my son) will need to claim the assets thru probate and then by liquidating the assets. Now I have a beneficiary account together with my son. When I passed on he can continue to operate this beneficiary account. No need to go through probate or liquidate the holdings since he is the joint account holder already. He will need to provide certain documents such as death certificate to FSM.

Will that be also meant if using ibkr, it will breakeven at around SGD700 even with the platform or transaction fee incurred using ibkr? If incest for amount smaller than SGD700, it is recommended using fsm one which incurred zero transaction fees. Am I right to say that?
@kdhebskhАй бұрын
For RSP of less than S$700 it maybe wortth it at FSM if u prefer more frequent RSP, provided no increase in FX difference. This you can check from time to time as FX is fluctuating. Everyone condition is different, i personally dont have time to keep comparing FX rate between brokers, and confident that IBKR has the best FX rate as it has been proofen so far. Also i tend to do it less frequent with the amount of more than $1K , bad FX rate will eat up my investment at the start even before getting yield, for example S$10,000 at IBKR will get me US$26 more when converting to USD. Also at selling point FX rate is important. For S&P 500, SPY5 has cheaper Expense ratio of only 0.03% compare to CSPX 0.07%. Its also Ireland domicile. Hth.

Watch the video till the end. I showed the transaction fee was $0. You can buy fractional amounts. The amount buffer of 2.5% was for the FX conversion as I used SGD to automate everything. @@DemiZhuangthanks, I was going to ask this but saw this response. So assuming no fee and the spread on fx is so thin it’s better to invest on fsone than ibkr
@kdhebskhАй бұрын
@@andrewkemp_ for conversion fee, IBKR charge 0.002%, minimum fee is US$.2 per conversion. However because IBKR conversion rate is better by 0.002672 per Sgd, so u will get USD 2.67 less when converting Sgd1,000 at FSM. The more Sgd amount u convert the lesser u get. While at IBKR converting up to Sgd 100,000 the fee remain USD2 for each conversion. Unless at FSM u only convert less than Sgd 700 each time than maybe it worth it. I assume IBKR also have better rate for withdrawal.. idk, nvr try yet.. 🤷♀️
