@WHOTEEWHO. The trigger in your .220 Swift is an X-Mark Pro with an adjustable pull weight screw. Someone obviously stoned down the sear. Those triggers won't usually adjust below 2 3/4 pounds. I've never heard of a short action Sendero, they usually came in magnum calibers. 7mm mag. .300 mag. and .264 mag. I've probably owned more .264 Win. mags than anyone in this country. At one point, I had 17 .264 mags in my gun cabinet. 54.3 grains of IMR 4350 with 129 gr Hornady Interbond bullets shot decent groups in my .264 rifles. 38.0 grains of IMR 4064 with Sierra 40gr. bullets works well in my pre 64 .220 Swift. Factory 140 grain bullets don't shoot accurately worth a hoot. I'm glad you found what you've been looking for. 👍

I do the gunsmith thing so I built a .220 Swift on a VZ-24 Mauser, 1-8 twist 416 SS Shilen barrel crowned at 27-1/2” (the blank was 28”) and I love that ole gun. My freind used it in the 2023 Wyoming antelope season to take his speed goat at 192 yards with 75 gr Swift Scirocco… I bought myself 9:40 .264 Winchester model 70 (1959 mfg) in 1977 for my 17th birthday from a good friend. I lost count of what that rifle has taken and I gave it to my 17 year old grandson for his 17th birthday. I have built 4 .264 WM’s for my kids and two good friends. I love that round. The 140 gr Bergers are death missiles. I hope you enjoy both of those beautiful rifles! Great video sir.

The 220 Swift absolutely screams... over 4,000 fps!!!!! A friend of mine had one - a Ruger No. 1 in 220 Swift. We fired a 4-shot group at the 100 yard range, and covered all 4 shots with a dime. The only downside is that it heats up your barrel mighty quick, and the concussion is incredibly loud because of all that speed.

I bought my 220 Swift in the early 90,s . Mine is a Winchester Model 70 Heavy Varmint. These guns came with a stainless barrel and an aluminum bedded stock. It is a lights out 400 yard rock chuck shooting machine. The common twist on a swift is 1 in 14 which limits you to 55 grain bullets or less. Both it and the 264 earned undeserved reputations as barrel burners. Mine swift still shoots 1/2 moa with 45 grain bullets at 3,900. Will wait to see the shooting video.

We all called him "The Preacher" ......when I was a youngster, I went elk huntin' with my Dad and his group, and one of them was "The Preacher" we called him that because he carried a .264 Win Mag, and, as far as we knew, he never missed with it. We'd hear that thing go off, (We hunted the pole patches of Eastern Oregon), and somebody would always say, "There he goes, Preachin' again...Preachin' to them Elks" ...it had a unique sound, kinda a higher pitched "CRACCKK" ....very distinctive....it was a Model 70 Winnie, and we all thot it was very cool......what it did to elk was phenomenal.....very cool cartridge, and your lucky to have found one.....get urself one of BackFire's recoil pads for it...they kick........OnWard.........

The man that taught me to reload was a 220 Swift nut. He had several. The story of the 220 Swift as he told it. When it first came out. Every rancher wanted one because it was so fast and flat shooting. Wellllll, I do not remember the number of rounds he said but was not that high of a number, like 750 to 800 rounds. The barrel would wash out on the lands and groves. Come to find out. The ammo Mfg's just lowered the feet per second to that of a 22-250 feet per second. The reason the barrel would wash out is it was free bored. Meaning the bullet would jump from brass to land and groves. With the powder charge set for 220 the bullet jumps and the powder flash would get in front of the bullet. X number of rounds and that would wash out the barrel. Insure that you can find the lands and groves when reloading. He had to have his re-barreled or shortened and rechambered to remove the free bore. Factory ammo is almost equal to 22-250 from what I remember. Yet once he had the work done on the barrel he reloaded to original powder charge of the 220 Swift and WOW did it preform well.

You bought yourself a big load of speed in this one. That .220 swift in the remington set off a bell I my mind. Back in the 70's remington made a bolt action pistol called the XP-100. They chambered it in a quick little round called the .221 Fireball. Have you ever done a video on this firearm? I have never had the chance to shoot one but there is still a pretty strong cult following on these guns. If you are looking for unique content that has speed and accuracy I believe this may be a money maker for you if you can find one.

In my opinion, it's a slow train coming but I'm seeing a teeny-tiny resurgence of the .220 Swift. I love all of "The Barrel Burners", my favorite being the super-accurate .22-250 with 50 grainers weighing in at 4000 fps. In factory loads, if you so desire, Hornady makes a 4450 fps scorcher in a 35 grainer with the .204 Ruger hot on it's heels. With some common sense & TLC you can easily get 5000+ rounds from these wonderful high speed lasers. I love 'em all & there's several of them.

These were 2 of the hot rod calibers when i was growing up in the 1970s. I have shot both, owned a 220 swift and a couple of friends had .264 win mag. These were the desired calibers for western hunting. The swift was the best coyote rifle I ever owned. I also took pronghorn with it. Barrel life was the down fall of these guns back then. Needless to say I am envious.

The 264 would be a lot more popular except they came out with that little light, short barreled rifle. Plus they now have better powders and a better understanding of barrel wear. Not a prairie dog rifle, but a decent long range deer and antelope cartridge. Check the throats on both and if they haven't been shot out, use judiciously keeping the barrel cool and you will love both.

Hey from Sugar Land TX. I bought a .264 from a fellow about 6 years ago. I absolutely love that gun! He said that it was real popular in Louisiana in the late 60s, but then hunters said that when it went through heavy brush or tree areas, the bullet would go off course pretty easy. Hunters went to 30.06 or 30.30. But he said if you have a straight shot and clear line of sight with no brush, it’s a beautiful gun. And I have to agree. It is just a pleasure to shoot. And I mean it is dead on at 100 to 150 yards. He even gave 50 rounds of ammo miked to that rifle. Can’t wait to see what you get out of yours!

The detachable mag on the 264 is a Wyatts box mag. Both are high performance cartridges you will have a blast with them. Dont over heat the 264 when shooting it or you can torch the barrels. I have been a long time subscriber to your channel and always wish you the best, so my comment is not in any way meant in a negative light whatsoever, I'm sure you know that. What I am asking/stating, is that although I am not the most knowledgeable firearm guy, I have always been told/warned that many traded-in .220 Swift rifles have burned out barrels and that's the main reason they are traded-in. Of course, I hope that's not the case for you, but as someone that has your best interest in mind, I hope you have checked the barrel or will have it checked out in the near future, as the .220 Swift is known as a barrel burner due to its incredible speed. As a WTW long time subscriber/friend, I'm sure you know that I am only commenting with your best interest in mind. Again, congratulations and best of luck. God bless Adam. 🙏 👍 WTW..............

The trigger on my 700 custom is tunable down to 2lbs. I have it tuned to 2 3/4 lbs. You probably have a target crown on the sendero. Mine is a very similar profile to the sendero. I would go ahead and get a trigger pull Gauge and adjust it up to at least 2 3/4 lbs. That's the lightest I feel comfortable with and not slam firing. When mine goes, it breaks like glass. I have no reaction to the kick. It's done. I have an older "7 year s" Lyman. Works great, and a buddy that has an adjustable trigger can come over and get used to it or adjust it. It's honestly good to use a snap cap for your caliber. It saves the shoulder of your firing pin from the abuse of repeated dry firing. There's arguments for the " it's ok to dry fire it" . But I've seen a few not so old rifles the firing pin looked like it had been thru a war. Safer not to worry.

I've owned a Ruger M77V (26" bull barrel) in 220 Swift since the '70s and it is still one of my favorites. The old ones have a twist of 14" so won't stabilize the heavy bullets of today and my most accurate (and favorite) bullet is the 52-53g BTHP Match bullets a few companies make. I have other varmint rifles in 204 Ruger and .223 so save the swift for special shoots and alternate the rifles to save the barrels. No factory ammo is as accurate as my own handloads with those match bullets, in the '80s my first outstanding group was 5 shots into 1 3/8" at 200 yards. A rare zero wind day.

Got it second try. I can't wait for the review on it. Also on the 264 i would check the chamber throat if you have a borescope. They have an extremely short barrel life.

That 220 looks like my Winchester Extreme weather 300 wsm. Great looking gun. My cousin has a .17 Remington that he brought home from the military. It is crazy accurate with a big casing and a lead that a bb won’t fit down into.

I got a CMMG Endeavor because of follow up shots and several guys kept saying you need a bolt action so I got a Rem 700 ADL . That night I saw your video on the Savage Impulse. So dropped another grand on that all in 308 . I'm out by Knoxville airport in Louisville and would love to get out and see you . Keep em coming brother .

220 swift is loosely based on the 6mm Lee Navy and will exceed 4100 fps with a 40gr bullet the 264 win mag is the father of the long range hunting cartridges same case as the 7mm mag with a 6.5 bullet but the 264 came first I've killed 2 of my 3 best bucks with my 264 win mag and my longest kill to date at 502 yds. That was a fine score my friend!!!

Cool. I remember the first time that I ever seen a Remington Sendero was many years back when Ol Bill Jordan on Realtree Outdoors use to carry one of those chambered Iin 280 Rem..I always thought that fluted bull barrel looked pretty cool. Thanks for another video buddy. God bless you and your family

I have the exact same rifle as the .220 Swift you got but mine is in .22-250 Rem. Bought it in 1998. I don't think it was called the "Sendero" in the small calibers. It was called something like the Varmint Stainless or something like that. Mine is extremely accurate. I think I paid around $600-$700 for it new back then. Interesting to hear that they are not cheap even when bought used.

If u handload the 264 u might want to check the twist in the barrel. It might not be fast enough for some of the heavier 6.5 bullets. In the long run u will be upset you didn't get the 7mm.

The 7mm Remington Magnum pretty much killed the 264 Winchester Magnum. With a. decent handload you should see around 3150 to 3200 fps. with a 140 gr Bullet. Pretty flat shooting round. Enjoy. My guess both those rifles have aftermarket triggers installed. The Bushnell Elite is an ok scope. I never own one, but I seen them around back in the day.

Congratulations on both of your Sendero rifles the .220 Swift is a second generation and your .264 Winchester is a third generation. The stock in the Swift rifle is the original H-S Precision the Winchester Magnum is not. Both of those cartridges are almost gone but those of us who know better haven't. Both rifles will shoot very well you might have to handload for the Winchester Magnum or your going to pay big $$$$ for ammo from Nosler. Most of the ammo you do find for the Winchester Magnum and Swift will be loaded slower than what both of them are very capable of doing. By the way I'm not saying you should not buy the 7mm Remington but it's the caliber that pretty much killed the .264 Winchester Magnum way back in 1962. Oh yeah the triggers are both stock triggers X-Mark Pro the bolt release is the small tab in front of the trigger blade.

I have an old Win Mod 70 in 220 swift. Best predator/groundhog/prairie dog gun I've ever had. I saw where one said it's a barrel eating cartridge and he is spot on. That round is a throat eating machine. Mine is on it's 3rd barrel but this one has lasted a lot longer since I don't shoot it near as much as I used to. I'm sure I don't have to tell you to hang on tightly to your brass and definitely reload for that cartridge. Factory ammo is nowhere near the performance you can get out of that particular cartridge. Although that Hornady advertised speed is on the upper level of what you can expect. Tons of good varmint bullets out there so you shouldn't have any difficulties finding one that barrel will like. My model 70 with that Hart barrel was a bit picky. Took me a minute to get a load that it liked but once I did, lets just say a dime at 200 yards is in serious trouble.

The heavy barrel is probably because that 220 will wear out a barrel quick. That 264 too is a barrel burner.

The 220 swift is the king of small calibers. I have the last year Ruger MII Woodstock. Tried all ammo if you can find it skip Remington Hornady get Winchester 53gr sp. It will put 2 through the same hole and the 3rd touching. With the Hornady mine didn't even want to chamber it. After talking to gunsmith with 40 years experience he tried and said Winchester better suited the chamber and lands.

I am interested in your comparison to the 22-250 with the 220 Swift and the 264 Win Mag and the 6.5 prc … I have both 22-250 and 6.5 prc . The twist rate on the prc will probably give that the advantage. But the 22-250 will be close with a 200 fps slight advantage, I think . Keep these videos coming, thanks !

I have one of the original Rem Sendaro non-fluted in a 25-06, purchased it new for around $450. You can adjust those triggers very light, I adjusted mine by dropping butt on the floor, it would fire. I made slight adjustments until it wouldn't fire by bumping it, locked it down. Been that way for 28-30 years. The rifle has never had a factory round shot in it, I worked up loads for it which ended up being 100 gr Nosler ballistic tips. I shot so many deer with that rifle from 75 yrds to my furthest being a large 10 pt walking at 483 yrds, never had to track a deer with that rifle. Stopped hunting 20 years ago but pull it out from time to time, it will still shoot a 5-shot ragged hole at 100 yrds off a bipod with the exact same handloads. Crazy thing is, it still has the same Burris Black Diamond 8-32x50 scope and Harris bipod. I wish the Remingtons of the past several years were built like that rifle!

That's a Jewel trigger. They are adjustable down to a few ounces of pull. I have them in all of my Remington 700's. Keep them clean by flushing them with Zippo lighter fluid. 220 swift is definetly cool, i got a mauser action with a bull barrel in 220, its got a set trigger thats about 2 lb and "set" about 4 oz. Old school build that i absolutley love. I'm fooling around with some 35gr varmageddons and 40 gr vmax since its a 1-15" twist bbl its not the biggest fan of the 55gr factory loads that are just about the only available today.

both are new to me. superficially, I like the one with the box mag. their both pretty cool looking though, nice score guy. when I do triggers I like to bump the guns around a little to be sure they won't go off when I'm not ready a bit like what you did. I like mine around 1.5 to 2 lbs with a touch of take up.
