What were the chances that I would find the match to the huge glass vase I bought months ago! I did just that at this Goodwill in Las Vegas where I shop with my friends Tiffany ‪@ThriftingVegas‬ and Kari. Watch and see what goodies we found!

I could watch your videos all day! I keep going back further and further to watch older ones and I must say that the changes you have made are great improvements! The recap at the end is wonderful, and I appreciate the "gap" in time before you putting up the value as I try to GUESS first. It gets me excited to get out sourcing again but I have so much inventory that is still boxed up that I haven't gotten to yet. But thank you Danni! And love it when you shop with Kari, Tiffany, your mom and your girls! Its educational and entertaining!

A quick memory from an old lady. While in college, 60 years ago, we went to byob parties and always took scotch as so few people drink it as a casual drink. You either love it or hate it. There is not in between. One other thought. It is not that life is so short; it is that death is so long. Merry Christmas

I have to say that painting pottery has had a HUGE come back in the past several years, especially since Covid. Also, the hobby pieces are all fired on a kiln. The ceramic clay they are made of is usually low fire but they have to be fired in a kiln. Some people do ceramics and pottery for a living so they are more than a hobby for some.

She didn't say it wasn't fired in a kiln she said there was no glaze or if there is a glaze you can tell it wasn't done in a kiln that it was done in a oven. She was talking about the Holland molds and other greenware pottery not the artisan pieces done at a studio or home kiln.

@@dittohead7044 I did as well. I took ceramics classes for many many years. I bought a kiln and many many molds and started doing it all myself. I did that for a long time. I am now a full time potter where I make everything by hand. I do still use molds for some things but I have moved to midfire clay and glazes which are completely different than low fire.

Frame 10:16 When I was a kid my Grand Mother brought me an old timey looking living room set ( you know couch, coffee table, side chair, etc ) & bed room set ( complete with mirrored vanity ). She lived in Arkansas & had gotten it from a man there, that made art out of old tin cans. That was back in the early 70's. Seeing what you had picked up there reminded me of that. Thanks !

My british mum used to do ceramics when we first came to the US. Sure wish i had some. The leaf bowls she made & painted w/ gold trim were beautiful. Shifting gears, i went to our local Salvation Army & made out like a bandit! Most everything i bought/rescued was under a $1 & alot were vintage. I've noticed lately that my 3 main local thrift stores i go to prices have gone down. I don't know if it's coincedence but not long ago i did a Goodwill online survey they've been urging me to do & i told them my opinion & observations, mainly the outrageous prices that needy people can't afford. I shared my experience about my home burning down & needing basics such as dinnerware & that the dollar general was cheaper than gw. Also complained that if they were a training facility, why were the same people still there for 3 yrs? How about giving others a chance for some training? Recently in our local news paper there's been ads for people 55+ to go for work for gw & they'd train! Goes to show they do listen to constructed criticism! Btw, Danni, about your search & find for the butter dish so Noah can leave it out, well, beware that real butter will turn rancid after awhile, just saying.

Yes, my mum did hundreds of green ware. Must admit she was very good and some were gorgeous pieces. We often dreaded Christmas. I’ll give you one guess why. Trouble is the stuff chips very easily. Cane toads were a thing in Australia then and mum gave my late husband a giant cane toad which he loved. It has survived and my youngest son now has it. The young family members today ask , “Why a cane toad?” They think she was insulting him. She wasn’t. It never crossed my mind.

I recommend that you find a cheap music box and give it to Noah to experiment with. Overwound music boxes are often easily fixed! That cute little sugarer pattern is "Pretzel". It is not oldenough to be EAPG. Crewel embroidery (that last picture) is done with wool, often on linen. Counted cross stitch, huck toweling, bureau scarves, etc. are done with 6 strand cotton floss, often only 3 threads of the 6.

Nappy, in antique glassware terms, . In most instances, it defines a small bowl, with or without one or two handles. ... The term is likely derived from the obsolete word “nap” which referenced a drinking cup or bowl in Middle English.

Wondering…I use to do ceramics in a studio. Which requires a green mold to be trimmed of mold marks, sanded & cleaned & then fired in a kiln. Afterwards, it is usually painted or glazed & fired again (there are a number of different techniques). I’ve always considered these Hobbyist pieces as well. Would you agree? I have a number of my Mother’s pieces that were done in the 60’s-70’s. She did incredible work:):)

The process of firing your bisque . Is to put it in a kiln, Not an oven. Some hobbyists are very good and take great care to paint and glaze properly. It was a very common hobby in late 60's to late 80's. I Remember my mom and her friends taking classes. It was a great business for many years. They clear glass piece looks similar to a princesse house pattern. Not as wellknow. It's a soft eched flower. Here in Canada. Hard to tell on camera

Wondering…I use to do ceramics where you go to a studio, choose a green piece & cut off mold marks, sand and fire. Then, paint or glaze & have fired again (there are a number of techniques). I consider these hobbyist pieces as well. Would you agree? My Mother did ceramics in the 60 & 70’s. I still have some of her pieces. They are amazing:):)
