The Tooltüte is a play on the german Schultüte (School-/Candy cone). When kids have their first school day it is tradition to gift them a Schultüte; a big paper cone filled with candies and school supplies. So the Tooltüte might be for someone who just got into working with tools. p.s. it's Holzgliedermaßstab and not Zollstock. (my Meister is never tired of correcting me on this one :D)

I’m an English man living in Germany and OBI is my secret pleasure! My local doesn’t have such a selection of Makita as this, especially not the boxes! Biffi isn’t good but the Currywurst that you find in most car parks at the DIY stores are pretty decent. A bit of trivia “Obi was founded in 1970 by Emil Lux, Manfred Maus and Klaus Birker with the opening of the first Obi store in the Alstertal shopping center in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel.” This is why the own brand is called Lux 😉 Wera is a local firm to here in Wuppertal and Solingen (famous for its knifes) is also about 10 miles away in the direction is Remscheid (home of Knippex). Great video and a new subscription 😉

Watching from Austria, 50km away from the boarder to Germany we call it "Zollstock". But in fact professionals dont use it a lot any more, it is more a DIY thing. And it is used a lot as a Promotional gift at trade fairs for example just because it has a large area to print on and the traditional hardwood variant also has a bit of a sustainable character in contrast to the usual plastic junk...
@zoolkhan
@zoolkhan 27 күн бұрын
nobody cares about south germany, you are a separatist breakaway region - who constantly pretends to be better than anyone else... the country says zollstock - because thats the name unchanged from medieval times, you cannot know that because in medieval times southern germany was still northern italy or something haha... meter. deine mudder....

The best thing with Gliedermaßstab/Zollstock that even most people won`t recognize is: You can also do quick measurements of common angles (15 to 75 degress in increments of 15 degrees) with it. Many Gliedermaßstäbe also have markings for that on it!

That bit holder is awesome. Now I need to get one. Just found your channel, when I was in the US Air Force our tool boxes where shadowed for FOD, foreign object damage, prevention. Made it really easy to identify any missing tools. I remember having to cut and glue the different color foam. Your product would have been a godsend back in the day. As I look through your website I had notice no mention of FOD prevention, which is required for anyone working on jet aircraft. I've watched Jet engines pull moisture out of concrete in a desert, that's how powerful they suck.

The 8M tapemeasures from Makita are AWESOME. B&Q did used to stock them, but on Amazon I saw a twin pack of then for just over £16 and my current one has lasted me years and longer than any other tape measure I have owned not to mention it automatically locks and has a button to release it unlike the ones with the sliding manual locking mechanisms. I have tried other auto locking tape measures but the auto lock seems to fail on them but this Makita has lasted me years with the only damage being that I accidentally bent the tape at one part through my own fault and I'll probably just buy another

Greetings from a German :) Let me tell you about the Zoll-stock. It is ancient, it was invented and in use generations before someone came up with the idea to springload rollable measuretape. It is because of that the germans still use it - its tried and tested and its stiffness allow you to measure things where with tape you might not be able to w/o a 2nd person. It is so old, that it is still called "zoll"-stock.... think about it. yeah, in medieval times we also had our inches, armlenghts, horseshoulders and all that shit that the americans hold so dear and love still today. And in those times, we already had zoll-sticks (inch-sticks) - at some point in time we changed to metrics, but the name for the tool survived as it was. I am sure you find a zollstock next to neanderthal bones if you dig enough :) Work-trousers in germany have a special pocket for it. So when i moved to finland i was shocked not to find those anywhere....
