I live in Poland, in Mielec. In my town during the communist era, there was a massive aviation factory called WSK PZL Mielec. Among other things, they produced the An-2, nicknamed "Antek," under a license from the USSR. When I was a child, Antki flew almost daily, used by parachutists, for transport between factories, and later by aviation enthusiasts. Thanks to the perseverance of its pilots, one of these planes completed a flight around the world and now stands as a monument at a roundabout at the entrance to the city. Occasionally, you can still hear an Antek flying over the town, but that happens maybe once a year.

Love what the pilot book says, about if you louse the engine, close throttle, and hold full back on the stick and wait till have landed. It was NO stall speed

Intriguing story but a sad one too. Need to find homes for these planes.

An amazing chap with a lifetime of knowledge. It’s a shame that he doesn’t realise that the best way to keep these historic planes flying is to find them new homes and stop kidding himself that he will ever get any of them airborne again

Hi Jimmy. Man, that`s a true Catterpilar of the skyes. If an AN12 can`t handle it, probably no other plane will. Infortunately, that one semms out of business. Powerplant: 1 x 1.000 HP PZL Kalisz Asz-62IR 9 cylinder radial engine with 4 blade propeller.
