They have to regulate it and force Vendors to get a permit with regular inspections. The goverment is missing out on billions of tax revenues which has a cascading effect on social benefits, the employment rate, pension, health, education, infrastructure et cetera due to them evading this process. So yes it should be illegal without a permit. The huge informal sector which is over 40 % of GDP in most african nations has to be integrated into the formal sector and this process is one of the biggest challenges that most african nations will face in the next 25 years. They can only achieve this with a comprehensive reform package focused on nation-specific drivers to successfully combat the informal economy (which is actually also detrimental in reducing the overall taxation). :TL;DR: Just to make it simple and summarize it: We're all going to benefit if more of our citizens pay their tax.

@@nullvoid9109 is that all u learn in school tax revenue bla bla bla, u must be a very dull person in real life
@nullvoid9109
@nullvoid9109 4 жыл бұрын
@@briantahs1841 I'm not shocked nor baffled that an uneducated Person (who has a youtube playlist of "Work at home, Entry level jobs for introverts") is calling me a dull Person, only due to the fact that I was trying to share my knowledge about economy and display the reason why Moçambique is cracking down on informal businesses. Their goverment is gladly not prevailed by your (selfish) kind who think that it shouldn't be illegal but by people who studied (economy) aswell. Did I use any ad hominem or personally hurt you or what is the reason that you personally attack me and call me a dull person? I checked your other comments and you're most likely from Angola and Angola has the same Problem. The MPLA (which is full of Ambundu assimilados who don't even speak their own mother tongue while proudly walking around with their portuguese slave last names) mismanaged (mainly Neto and Dos Santos) the whole economy by solely relying on Oil exports while neglecting to diversify the economic portfolio. In fact over half of the GDP and 90% of exports are based on the Oil production which leads to a fragile economy. If Zungueiras and all other informal sectors would pay their tax and if the goverment would spend & allocate the funds in a sufficient & sustainable way, Angola would easily become one of the biggest powerhouses on the African Continent and not only Angola but the majority of all other nations in Africa aswell. Greece had/has one of the biggest informal economies inside the EU which is a part of the reason that their economy nearly collapsed. They would already be a 3rd world nation if it wasn't for the loan & subvention that they received (which is going to hit them hard once the ECB rises the interest rate, which they eventually have to do to balance the inflation & deflation scale). It is tiresome and hard to explain all those things to uneducated people. Do you seriously think an anarchistic nation in which only a few people pay their taxes can ascend? If yes name me one nation that managed to do that.
