Not sure where you are located but I've seen not as nice bookshelves go for $300 to $600 in Delaware seaside shops.
@ThatShabbyGuy5 жыл бұрын
Dallas, Tx area. Id probably say $200-$300 around my area. Closer to $200 if I try to liquidate it on FB Marketplace. If I had a brick and mortar store, I could probably ask $400. I wish I lived closer to a coastal area. I know it would demand more there. :)

Keep it I really don’t care for painted wood. However sometimes there’s no other option. Besides your legs are a great choice looks very MCM. 👍🏾 So many uses for it anywhere in your house. 🏡
@ThatShabbyGuy5 жыл бұрын
@Dan This came from one of my neighbors that had it mounted in the garage for paint supplies. It seems like he built it from plywood and painted the sides that showed when mounted, which is why you see the top and right side unpainted when I start. I get a good amount of comments from people that dont like paint over wood and I understand that to a certain extent when it comes to painting over antique or vintage wood. This one was definitely not anything to worry about with the wood though. Made with cheap materials but built sturdy. That's all I needed. :)

That Shabby Guy I’m not knocking you. You always do a Great 👍🏾 job! Obviously 🙄 or you wouldn’t have such a large following. I thought what you did with the top and back was very original. The hairpin makes it.

It was on the curb abandoned and you brought it back to life: well done. People need to do this instead of throwing things out and buying new stuff. The planet needs people like you!

NOOOOO...."WE" need them to keep throwing stuff out!! lol Some of my best refurbished pieces were from the garbage! ;)

Rite. Everything in my house except electronics & appliances is recycled. Daughter groaned a few days ago cuz i pulled over to pick up a lil shelf that had 6 cubies(3 open back &3 close back). Then she saw it when i was getting it out the van and was like, mom let me help you with that. She grabbed it from me and carried it inside and ended up taking it to her room and made a cat bed tower for our 4 cats 😂😂 damn kids 😂😂😂

I've picked up and refinished lots of stuff from the curb. Found a coffee table in great shape. It wasn't too tall and had a cute drawer. I just polished it up, put batting and foam on top, then put a light grey material with polka dots on top. It's now a bench behind my antique footboard. Total price....less than $8

Hi one artist to another, I need to work at this too. Some times when I am painting I over kill! So when you are painting , as in the turquoise backed book shelf try to remember less is more! I struggle with going overboard! Awesome out come I I loved the wood on top and the clean lines you created! AWESOME! Keep going, Gina Witkovsky!

I love watching ppl change & revamp furniture. Do you work out of a home garage? How are you filming all this? Is someone helping you behind the scenes? Where/how did you learn to clean, sand, paint, stain, varnish, etc? Did your dad teach you? Are you self taught? Did you take a home ec class? I'm very curious because I know nothing but have dabbled with furniture painting/beautifying in the past and would like to do so again with small kitschy pieces again at some point but I'm not sure if I'm qualified, haha! Where would you recommend a noob begin? Do you have how-to videos that teach about particular topics like just knowing how to sand? Or how to pick the right paint? I LOVE the top of your bookshelf. It's my favorite thing in a long time. I am a fan of natural looking wood as well as white furniture with pops of color -- and turquoise is a favorite! Thus I'm a fan of what you did here - especially with the blending that you said you don't really know how to do. (You should link the video tutorial you watched in your description) Re: This particular piece, I however, don't like the black legs. They're cool looking enough but I feel like bookshelves should remain firmly flat on the ground. Thanks for your time.

Love the paint colors, love the board top-not crazy about the legs. The board top makes it look farmhouse style. Metal mid century legs look out of place and time. I would have preferred something more country and painted to match, for the legs.
