Great video Silas, I'm like you, back in the 80's I'd go camping in the California High Sierras, I'd hike a few miles away from the campground and sit down and lean back against a large pine and wait for the for the critters to come back out, the squirrels and chipmunks playing, the blue jays fluttering around, I always brought several 1 pound bags of nuts to feed them, ...the magnificence, and grandeur of the forest, can't resist to quietly hum, "How Great Thou Art!"

Fun to explore like that. I remember doing that as a kid up around Perry Lake in NE Kansas. The water was way down and you could see all the old house fountains and miscellaneous china and things that were left prior the flooding of the land to create the lake. I was imagining what it looked like before. That was probably 45 years ago and it is still vivid in my mind. Can’t remember what I ate for breakfast, but I remember exploring. Thanks for taking us along. Peace

Thank you Silas! When we moved to southwest Florida in the 70s I didn't know a soul. The bays, backwaters and swamps were my playground. The Everglades, Big Cypress Swamp, Corkscrew Sanctuary and Koreshian State park became my closest friends. You could get on a dirt bike and ride for hours and never see a soul. Your presence was always known the farther south you went. The Seminole Indians don't miss much and you can't blame them. You couldn't find a more kind and generous people. I called many friends and they nicknamed me Lonewolf because I was always by myself. My little Yamaha Enduro was whisper quiet and I was able to see a lot of wildlife. I did get between a wild sow pig and her young and got chased what seemed like miles. I even came across a huge field of Marijuana taller than I was with camo netting over it. I got out of there faster than a wild she-pig was chasing me! I went through there 35 years later and the only thing growing were houses and buildings sprouting out of asphalt and concrete. I'm glad I got to know it while it was alive. Cool treasure to be found, adventures to be made. I'm too old now, too beat up. I live my adventures through others now. Cheers Terry

There was a farm there at one time, anything close to rivers the government takes the properties from the landowners. Early eminent domain. Before the reservoir, that probably wasnt an island

Love watching your adventures. This was a good one. Just to be precise that was a beaver lodge not a dam. Beavers don't live in the dam they just block the waterway with them

Those low islands were once high ground in that flood plain. Native American Indians were probably all over them. Unfortunately they look like they are heavily silted over but look for flint flakes in the eroded areas. Could be some great finds there

Hi there, Silas. At 6:38, looks like Sharon Esther Nickel (or Nickels). The 1950 R N might be Ron Nickel (or Nickels); looks like Ron at the handprints at 6:20! Extremely enjoy every vehicle made by Chrysler Corporation especially the Dodge Models. I will try to send a few pictures to your Gmail of 1940-1950 Model Dodge Pickups if I can get through on your Main Channel Link. Really appreciate all your videos! Keep up the great work!
