It sucks that it happened man but I'm glad you're able to stay positive about it and still put out a video that could potentially help someone else from going thru the same thing. It's crazy how complicated vehicle electronics can get. My wife had someone give her Subaru Outback a jump start and it fried the ABS module somehow so I feel your pain... Take your time off and enjoy that beautiful family at Christmas, these clowns can go back and watch reruns if they really need to haha... Merry Christmas!

Those PCM's are touchy. I was putting in a radio and had unhooked my battery, plugged it back in once i was done with he install and i fried mine as well. Towed it to a Stealership and they looked at it and said radio was hooked up right and weren't sure how it blew either. I still dont know what friend the PCM in my 2013. I deployed for a few months, jeep was stored in my shop with a Battery Tender on the optima yellow top. When I got home, I found that the charger was blinking as if it were trying to charge which was strange as it had been charging for 3 months. Battery was totally dead. Replaced the battery and when I try to start it the fan went to full blast and everything was lighting up. The anti theft light was on, so I had a new key made. Same result. Ordered a new PCM and it worked. That yellow top still works, but it is now powering my trailer and I wont be putting it in anything important.

I killed my computer just over a year ago. I washed my engine and everything under the hood and apparently was a bit too aggressive in my spraying and blew water into the connections. I CANNOT believe Jeep would make it so vulnerable to water! Of course we all wash under the hood after off-roading and getting muddy!
@robby8446 жыл бұрын
I pressure wash under the hood of mine every week... Never had an issue.

I washed under the hood once and when I got in to fire it up, click, nothing. I got into the engine bay and towel dried every connection, click nothing. Disconnected my positive and negative leads at the battery, touched them together, put them back on and it fired up right away. Manual computer reset.😁

Good to know about the ground wire. That sucks blowing a pcm. I had a short in my wiring between the pcm and ignition coil that blew 3 pcms and 3 ignition coils before I found it. Let us know if there is anything else you need to do after you install it. I had my dealership flash it for me after I had some issues and actually threw a code for a PCM vin mismatch. Merry Christmas!

Do you have the recycling bin that is just a tad smaller than the garbage can that is on wheels? The garbage truck is notorious around here to accidentally dropping the can in the back while dumping. Their policy prevents them from getting it back out and they are never considerate to let you know or even order you a new one.

I tried swapping my fog lights on my 07 Compass. HID polarity was reversed, and after installing the HIDs, the jeep wouldn't start, odometer saying "no buS". Jeep wouldn't even crank. Bluetooth OBD scan tool wouldn't even communicate with the jeep. After a few hours of searching, a post recommended disconnecting the battery cable, and tieing them together for ten minutes. Once I reconnected the battery cables to the battery and tried to start the jeep and to my freaking surprise it actually started. Rebooting the PCM really worked for me.
