Saving salvage keep up the good work my friend I have the Audi A5 3.2 V6 CAL. I have been taking out the engine more than 5 times only your channel helped me out by sharing that information about those 4 cam adjusters at the chain drive, tried every thing cardiagn.com ELSA nothing about them. until the video you share about a random guy who sent you the email on how they should go. Although this one aint V8 but procedure is kinda same. All thanks to you my friend without you even today my V6 would be stuck. I had the same timing problem but only one came bank 1 adjuster B changed it and renewed 14 multi spine bolt now it is running like a clock. Hope this elevate your spirit to do more you look humble man you my role model. Do not loose hope you got this.

I had a B7 S4 V8 for 4 years ... I still have nightmares, but my fingernails have now grown back ... You're nothing if not persistent. I gave up and now run a 2003 Mazda 6 shed ... I don't care when I hear little ticks & knocks. Good on you for keeping the V8's alive - the RS / S's are great pieces of machinery ... when they drive out of the showroom.

Please don’t let it deflate your mood, it’s a project and nothing is easy otherwise everyone would be doing it and you wouldn’t be doing so well and have such a positive following. Proud of you Dean, great job, plus, we get to see another video on the RS4, and when you get to rip it a new one up the road it will be worth all the set backs. Great job mate 🤩

I had a lead on one of these...when I brought it up with my mechanic he told me it would not be welcome in his shop. I can only imagine he’s had similar experiences with this setup. Any regular jobs on this are “engine out”....I can’t imagine how you are feeling about this car at the moment, but I’ll hazard a guess it’s not love....Best of luck getting that timing right...we are all convinced that you can pull this off!!

My heart sank for you Dean. It's gotta be sooo frustrating! The only upside is that given you are a perfectionist and you wouldn't sell-on a car that wasn't up to your exacting standards, then at least whoever buys it, will have a well sorted RS4.
@jim46913 жыл бұрын
I feel for you, what a pain. Looking back at the video of timing chain install I notice the tensioners move in and out when you rotate the engine by hand, I am surprised they do this, is it correct?
@DerGolf20003 жыл бұрын
Damn! I feel your pain....Consider what caused the tapping noise. Are the valves and pistons slightly touching? Maybe you should take a leak down test or (relative) compression test, when you can/before the engine gets dismantled.

Bad luck mate but you will get there. That engine is a nightmare to work on - engine out just to get the camshaft cover off!! I can relate to you not wanting to start it for the first time and the sky high heart rate. I have fitted 4 modified engines to my cars in the past and was exactly the same each time. It is great when they finally start and run well however.

On the s4 which has the same timing setup, you just unbolt the cat and move it slightly away from the timing cover. It is also not possible to remove the cat there, too. So maybe try unbolting the cat without completely removing it like on the s4?

You are the absolutely the coolest UK-ian I watch always interesting I repaired my Touareg front air strut from your q7 video .was leaking the same way ..thanks . I have a question my Touareg has a high rpm or under load misfire ..it's the 4.2 fsi engine only cyl 7 at rpm above 3500 starts idles fine drive it regular and you'll never know once under wot check engine light and possible epc light to hide cylinder ..I've did the basics changed coil and plug would I be looking at a fuel injector issue ? If it where pressure related wouldn't it effect the whole rail of cylinders also Is thier a way to diagnose it with a scan tool ..I use a launch x431 ...jus trying to do a decent diagnose before pulling manifold
