To join my Minecraft server, head to my Twitch channel and type !server for the login information. You must be subscribed on Twitch to join, and have a Discord account. This is so we can moderate and manage the server due to demand. The server is open 24/7 and has a survival world, as well as a museum of every past build we've done on the channel.
New Earth Build Rules:
-No obnoxious floating text. No obnoxiously tall buildings.
-Respect the coastline and borders. Islands, continents and countries should retain their shape.
-Build the best you can. Low effort and unfinished constructions will be removed.
-Your building cannot just be a flag.
-No contemporary politics.
-No depictions of war, recent mass tragedy, racism or discrimination or hate symbols of any kind.
-Railways must be at ground level. Railways in the air are considered low effort and too tall. We recommend an underground metro instead.
-No pixel art. We find that this obscures other builds, and we plan to provide a space later.
Special thanks to Nitrous Networks for hosting our Minecraft server. See their site for quality server hosting across a variety of games: nitrous-networks.com/

@@blunderingfool unfortunately not as far as I'm aware, as with almost all botanical names it was derived from a dead language like latin/ancient greek because them being dead languages they never change and that means it will be recognisable by anyone worldwide but i do know that biloba means two lobed leaf. It was thought to have evolved in the early cambrian period and was one of the earliest trees in the fossil record, it ranged from th eurasian continent to the far west of the Asian continent and as far north as the russian steppe. A truly remarkable plant to have survived that many million years without substantial change.

To be clear, gingkos were thought to be extinct _in the wild_ until recently, but they have been deliberately planted and grown by humans for perhaps a thousand years. So there was never a point in time where we "lost" them, so to speak.

@seanthesheep 8 ай бұрын
@@paulrichardspencer This is not really true. While taxonomic species names are generally Latin-like, the name can come from any language. Sometimes they reference famous people or fictional characters, like Eeyore or Tinkerbell. Ginkgo comes from Japanese for _gin kyo_ "silver aprocot."

Here's a word for you: "arcology." It's a combination of "architecture" and "ecology," the study of how buildings and the environment can interact and benefit one another. I was reminded of it from your comments about building natural vistas in the plots.

@seamonkey2841 11 ай бұрын
Arcology is also used as the name for superstructures built under the same principles you outlined, common in sci fi works. Most interpretations of arcologies rely on dense urban spaces with a high focus on verticality and recycling+ renewables to allow for dense human habitation with minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystem.

As someone from Hong Kong, I can say this build is extremely accurate! Even the plot size for each store/house (the rent is crazy expensive) One funny thing is that the "prison complex" is actually real, it's called 籠屋 ("caged house"), where were force people live in "cages" due to those being cheaper to rent
@linkly9272

I don't know how you guys do it with those tiny apartments and bustling streets. Hong Kong is this hyper dense, expensive and fast-paced metropolis, whereas where I live there's just space. Space everywhere, and so much that noone knows what to do with it all but grow vast swaths of corn and soy. Even the city itself here has multiple layers of open space underground, back since the raising in the 1850s. Honestly, I just think it's neat that we all can live in practically different worlds, and yet many people can now relate to the same small videos and experiences thanks to the internet.

@@linkly9272 Another Hong Kong person here! I don’t know how you guys do it with so much space- I grew up in dense areas, spending most of my time in the streets or traveling through a mall just to avoid the hot summer heat. I’m used to being so enclosed by buildings and mountains to the point where I don’t really see the sky. The malls and subway stations are almost like cave systems, long winding tunnels that are honestly really hard to navigate if you don’t know where you’re going. And even if you go out to the countless forests throughout the city, it is still incredibly dense because Hong Kong is a surprisingly mountainous region. Just google some pictures of HK and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Beyond the concrete jungle is dense, mountainous forests. The hundreds of islands in HK are barely any different too. I’m not used to having much space- it makes me scared, weirdly. I like being in enclosed spaces because that’s how it’s been all my life. It makes me feel safe. It’s so interesting just how different our lives are, but we can still connect over the internet and silly little minecraft videos :D

There was a Kowloon Walled City, where houses and all kinds of structures were stacked in the tightest way possible due to a administrative loophole between the UK and China. The plot of land basically became a no man’s land for both governments, and the local triads moved in, along with a lot of the “peripheral” industries. From a distance, it literally looks like a solid block of building mass. The building (district) was demolished by the British government shortly before their handing over of Hong Kong.

The existence of vertical cities or just places that cram as many people into one space as possible is absolutely horrifying, but somehow these people manage to make the Minecraft version of it look nice. They made every individual floor look pretty and different.

11:07 she didn’t change the sign, the sign is gone entirely. She has a secret room built where she has a diary that specifically mentions a surprise she has for link. If link didn’t live there why would she need a secret room that he doesn’t know about????

You know it would be really nice if these big office buildings or apartment complexes had miniature gardens or parks in their floors to make working their better. They could say it boosts productivity when in reality it’s just a nice to unwind

Floorspace is limited in cities where you'll find these sorts of buildings, not to mention the cost of upkeep. It's a MASSIVE ask even though it doesn't look like it at first.

Hey RT, just wanted to say I love these minecraft events you do. it's nice that you have such a big, vibrant and not (entirely) destructive community. I really want to participate in one of these but either never find the time or am busy with work, but I would love to recreate the hub/lobby area from Hades. If you could, I would love to see you do one of these where everyone has a plot where they can make something from a fictional setting of their choosing. I'd love to see the breadth of different worlds from something like that!
