Okay so to help out anyone who wants to do a wolf cut - as Ellie discovered here, the ponytail cut isn't going to take any length off. It only layers. So if your hair is long, split it in half and bring both sides in front of your shoulders and cut to the length you want, then do the ponytail. Also yes what she did is the unicorn cut, which looks awesome, but it's not actually how to do the wolf cut - you want the ponytail on top of the head, not right at the front, and hold it straight up and cut across rather then bring it forward.
@Thatgirl-kk6er3 жыл бұрын
It all has to do with math, right? If you over direct your hair so that pieces fall down at the bottom you’re not cutting that is at the bottom layers
@jakibraze3 жыл бұрын
I find that leaning the ponytail backwards a little helps with making long layers and avoiding layer shelves.
@danykaydeen33933 жыл бұрын
@@Thatgirl-kk6er That's right. Cutting three inches off the end of a ponytail on top of your head is very different to cutting three inches off the bottom of your hair. It may not be falling out, but it's not getting cut, and to significantly cut those back pieces you'd have to cut A LOT off the ponytail. Unless you had very long hair, you'd be cutting almost the whole thing off. And if you did cut enough off to cut the length, the layering would be weird. I've seen it on tiktok where girls with really long hair do the mullet cut, are surprised that it's not shorter, and keep re-doing the ponytail and cutting more off. It turns out A MESS. So yeah, length first, then layers.

I think it looks beautiful just the way you did it. But if you really want layers in the back, this is what I do. Do a high pony tail on the back top of the head and cut it like you did the front. This gives the layers down the back and the basic layers around the face. Then whisk out around the face with the razor as much as you want to frame the face. I love this cut.

It’s actually called a shag cut. Medium to short layers. It would be easier if you took a lock of your hair from the crown, cut it at the shortest layer you would want. Then use it as a guide to bring the rest of the hair up to it in sections. If you want to keep it longer over direct with your hand before cutting.

Wolf cut? We’ve always called it layering it long shag. So I’ve been cutting my own hair for years now, started with a similar technique and have been perfecting it over the years. Instead of cutting straight across, try angling hair at 45°angle from head, with shorter part near forehead and linger towards back. I use a custom razor I made myself using carpet cutter with small pieces of tape about 1/16-1/32”, spaced about every 1/8 of inch, but not perfectly, as random gives better look. You can also use texturizing scissors or texturizing razor, I do that when I’m in a hurry or not feeling like spending too much time or effort, or for zeroing in for perfection. Going at it using the 45° angle made such a HUGE difference for the better. I highly recommend trying out subtle changes until you perfect your perfect cut for the look you want.

You could ask for a haircut with lots of layers and long curtain bangs? Or even just adding some face framing bangs and layers while keeping length (if your Mom wanted you to keep your length that is) bangs are so great!! I’ve had them for years, so I’m biased and have had them through the “Don’t cut bangs they’re ugly” to everyone in the world wanting a shag with curtain bangs after they crapped all over my curtain bangs since 2014.. lol. I remember telling my hairdresser that I didn’t know what it was called but I wanted my bangs long on the temples but short by my eyebrows. They are so fun. I will say that they are definitely high maintenance. I like to use the Velcro ish no heat curlers for my bangs and that works great, but if you’re in sports invest in hair clips and Bobby pins! lol 😆 honestly think you could really do a lot with face framing layers as well as layers in your cut and it doesn’t have to be a full mullet or wolf-cut. 💛 I hope anything I said helps, but if not I wish you the best! I hope you have a great day and good luck with whichever haircut you end up with 😁💜💕

I love how your hair turned out so much, and all the other ones you showed on 0:28 but except for the brunette one, all the others (yours as well) are just the shag cut that’s why people make it seem so easy xD the layers on a wolf cut are way more structured than a shag. the same goes for the traditional mullet, it’s way harder to do a proper one than people make it seem. especially the back layers

IF YOU WANT THE WOLF CUT OR SHAG DO THIS>>>>OLE 70'S TRICK!!! Put a pony tail super tight on the top of your head in the middle and pull real tight and leave anywhere from 4-10 inches above the elastic band and cut. If you pull the elastic towards you forehead the bangs will be shorter and back longer. No need for razoring.
@pattygeraldinealderete11513 жыл бұрын
Gutsy! You were very entertaining. I sure was glad to see you pull out a brush. I was curious to see the back after. Really thick hair helped.
@emmaline763 жыл бұрын
The way to get more layers in the back is to do TWO ponytails. Divide the hair from ear over to the crown to your other ear, then put a ponytail at the front where bangs would start, and then take the back half and put it in a ponytail at the top crown on your head. Cut both ponytails the same way you did here, and at the length you desire. Then point cut each pony to get some of the heavy bluntness out. Then pull the ponytails out, shake your hair out, and BOOM, you get some truly boss layers all over the back that blend perfectly into the shorter layers in the front. Then go in and lightly clean it up with your razor to soften some possible blunt places. Your hair has such beautiful natural waves btw, and you are so funny with your “trash” depth of perception comment! 😂 Hope this helps some and stay rad!
