The problem is that there is an algorithm behind the key generation on Steam, your chances of hitting a specific key are of ~4.523e-22% or 1 in 221,073,919,720,733,357,899,776 (36 possibilities for 15 slots). You might have actually generated dozens of actually real keys but that are not currently active. Keys from Gift Cards and games are activated on purchase or generated for the latter. It is in fact possible that this may one day work, same as the Infinite Monkey Theorem.

There is a simpler solution to this when security is the goal. It would be to personalize the keys for the user accounts. So that key would be assigned to your account only and only you can activate it whenever you want. Only disadvantage would be that you couldnt share the key that easily which is not really a disadvantage. You could still share it when there would be a feature to transfer the key to someone elses account.

Well, for starters, Steam keys need to be verified and authenticated by Steam's servers. Any key generated by these tools won't be recognized by Steam and can't be activated. Also, activated keys are stored in a database managed by Valve. When you enter the key, Steam checks it against the database to make sure the key has A) been activated by Value and B) not already used and invalid. Even if both of those were the case, most of the "Steam key generators" don't follow Steam's key format. You're honestly better off just buying the game from a third-party retailer or on when it goes on sale.

i think they get activated only when someone purchased them , the merchant (g2a) signals steam/valve and tells them the key was purchased and valve activates it. In store it literally says on every gift/wallet card that is null until activated at the till/register . That is my plausible explanation. Good try mate !

the thing on g2a is fake, g2a is not related with valve or steam, the users who sell the keys buy them from steam or whichever their supply is and add them on g2a, a key can't be disabled on steam games at least until purchase, and on PSN codes on stores they are just cardboards, you will get the code at checkout.

Fun fact, with estimated 10 million keys being in the database. You still face 1 in 16 quadrillion odds to guess a working key. Edit: In theory, quantum computing with Grover's algorithm could reduce the time needed to guess a Steam key from millions of years to a few days. The reason you can’t is because you don’t know what has been activated already. You would have to start at one combination and keep repeating that combo while still adding more keys. Something I think only a quantum computer can do.

There are 36 characters + numbers in English alphabet, which means there are 36^15 steam codes for each game. That equals about 2.21*10^23 different combinations, so 55 billion times more than attempts. It would be cheaper to just buy a game rather than keep running the program for so long

You have such a small window to use it. Take codes that come with physical copies. They get activated upon check-out, and 99% of the time they're used within 1-2 hours. With the amount of possibilities for a code, there's next to no chance of randomly stumbling upon one

the problem is that steam blacklists you after attempting more than like 10 times in an hour or something. They don't tell you this, otherwise real hackers would then just swtich accounts/IPs/whatever. So you probably generated a few valid keys but could not redeem them because your account was blocked. This is pretty standard security protocol and the kind of attack you are doing is considered a "brute force attack".

Steam keys are formatted as 3 sets of 5 capital letters or numbers from 1-9,0. The alphabet is 26 letters long and there is 10 numbers including 1-9 and 0, meaning for each character in each section there is 36 possibilities. 36^5 (for each character in the segment) is 60.4 million possibilities per section. We can calculate the number of possibilities for all the sections combined as: (36^5)*(36^5)*(36^5) = 60.4 billion. This shows I'm a dumbass and don't know if this math is right at all.

Each Key generated for a Steam Game use an algorithm. Generating a Key with random characters like the way you are doing it will result in a 1/10 Billion chance of hitting. With enough legitimate and used keys for a specific game as training data, you could perhaps train an A.I on the legitimate keys and it could eventually learn the algorithm and generate legitimate keys for that specific game. Wouldn’t be able to train on different keys for different games as it would then result in the same situation as just generating random values.

It's a brute force attempt. Most jet generators aren't using that method because of this problem exactly: too slow. Better to get lots of already activated keys and try to discern a pattern. Biggest problem with creating steam keys: keys are only generated upon gift purchase or requested by the developers and usually used within 24hrs, good luck.

There are approximately 221073919720733000000000 possible Steam keys and that is only for the XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX format, as far as I know, Steam uses multiple formats. Generating an existing key is possible, but just look at the likelihood of that, it won't happen, it's not even worth trying.
