ANTEQUATED!

Күн бұрын

I have wanted 90's Librettos for quite sometime. I never got one because of the absurd prices people are asking for them here in the US. To make it worse, the 1st gen Librettos(shown in this video, the most sought after) are fragile and unreliable machines. Thankfully they are common in Japan, and people there don't have giant egos, so the prices are much more affordable. I purchased them all from the same seller on Yahoo! Auctions Japan. Then I imported them with Sendico (which contrary to popular belief, wasn't complicated nor that expensive). In this video, we unbox, test and use the Librettos. I haven't uploaded that much recently, but I have some fun videos coming out in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

The beeping from the Libretto 20 should be a stuck key on the keyboard, try running the laptop without the internal keyboard hooked up. Once the fuse is fixed :) May be worth doing a PS/2 mouse/keyboard modification on the port replicator that's got damaged plastic

I was considering that as well. When I was trying to use it it kept spamming 0's. I have multiple units that are doing that, maybe it's stuck dirt. As for the modification, my electrical skills are way too poor for that lol. Would be nice though!

I wanted one of these so badly when I was in college. I had the Satellite 115CS and it sounded just like that when booting up. I almost got the Libretto 70 but the one the store had was a display model and defective. They wanted $400 as is and I decided not to buy it.

Thanks for letting me know, possibly I'll make a video on them. So far, though, the lot isn't looking too good.

I wouldnt take CT20. CT50s are much faster and you are able to boost them (or buy CT70 which is the same machine itself). Also it is better to buy one, but in good codition, which was stored in dark dry place

I agree the 50/70CTs are better. For some reason in Japan the 20CTs are by far the most common so when I looked those were mainly what I was able to find. But they are equally as valuable and I guess being the first in the Libretto series there is a bit of novelty.

Would be good to know what actually caused those fuses to blow otherwise they'll just blow again.

Good point. I was thinking that maybe they were just old/low quality?? If not, then there’s not much I can do. I have zero expertise in troubleshooting problems like that.

@@antequated.archive If you're not using the power supply that Toshiba laptop came with, one with a higher amperage, that can cause Toshibas of that era to blow the fuse. Has happened to me a few times already when the laptop has no fault. If your PSU is higher amperage than the label on the underside of the laptop says, remove the battery, it's the battery charging circuit / power draw that causes these issues.

Oh my gosh, seriously? I am using a higher amperage power supply. A proper one is too expensive. The fuses would always blow with the batteries in. Shame I didn’t hear this sooner, would’ve saved me a lot of trouble.
