It is dried out sweat. The salt + the sun must have destroyed the top coating. Try car cleaning stuff like a windshield watermark remover (it will remove the hydrophobic coating tho) Then use a mild abrasive (polishing compound) Then add a ceramic coating on it. Very intrusive but it does work. Add painters tape all around the watch while doing so. That watch is indeed a good deal. Keep it Drew!

You’re right , it is comparable to the infamous “stain marks” on old Retina MBPs of the 2014+ era, also worn off top coating, and looks that could be restored with scrubbing off the entire coat.

There are fisheye removers for car glass that work perfectly fine with the sapphire glass. I got those stains once I went to a water park and nothing worked to remove the stains, a friend of mine applied fisheye remover to the glass and it was as good as new in less than a minute, hope it works for you too!

my guess is the oleophobic coating is wearing off my guess is from sweat or moisture being trapped between the screen and a case or screen protector and wearing down that top coat. if you use 70% alcohol and a microfiber it’ll remove that, however fingerprints will be much more visible. on another note, last year i got a series 7 stainless and milanese loop for $275 at a pawn shop. i always wanted a ss apple watch and it was legit the deal of a lifetime lol

Congrats on the Series 7 SS, just be careful with the Milanese loop, especially if you got the graphite color option as the material will definitely scratch the watch casing and anything that isn’t the silver colorway has no way to repolish the surface without removing the finish.

when you described the “greener than grey” thing i sort have been noticing that on my iphone 13 pro. it’s not that big of a deal as it only ever happens when the brightness is all the way down and i’m in a dark room, but it’s still there. also, while i’m here, i have an apple watch SE first gen and in the dark as well the screen sometimes flickers slightly like the brightness goes up and down by like 5% it’s really weird

I can ensure you that’s because they replace de glass and they damage the lcd screen when they remove the broken glass. I know because same thing happened to me replacing my broken app watch series 5

If you send it to Apple for a battery replacement you actually get a like-for-like refurbished watch rather than the same one back. Might be worth trying if you can’t manage to clean the display

I think the screen is replaced from an normal aluminum watch. The green color also indicates it’s not color accurate… I wouldn’t keep it

I’m in a similar situation. I’ve got a series 6 titanium 44mm, series 7 aluminum 45mm, and ultra 49mm. The 6 and 7 were gifts and the ultra I purchased. I was originally gonna sell the 6 and 7, but I’ve been on the fence pretty hard. The 6 is what I wore to my wedding, the 7 has an immersive screen, and the ultra has the best battery plus durability. Not sure what to do!

Sell the 7, it will lose the most value (like all aluminum Versions), you could use the 6 for sleep tracking and hit the gym (the weight and shape of the 6 is more comfortable), the ultra through out the day .

Greener than grey is because it's a PMW OLED panel. It flickers on and off 24/7, it slowly burns out the pixels. It's also very bad for your eyes just like modern iPhones. I have the same on my AW5, watchfaces don't look as good anymore, red is not red etc. eitherway, tomorrow ill get the AW8 SS. Even OLEDs with DC dimming suffer from this issue. No matter what fans tell you, oled burns in, it's sadly not reliable tech.

As ‘average Apple Watch users’ my wife and myself are still respectively using Series 0 and Series 2. The battery life is still good, they pair to newer iPhones as long as Watch OS was kept updated and most watch faces have a black background so the big bezels aren’t visible. I actually prefer the more squared off casing of those early watches so they’re going nowhere until the batteries become too weak and then will go into my Apple collection!

the last of the "squared" off design was the series 3.... They are still really good to use in 2023 even though they are not getting any more software updates... just ensure u get a cellular model as they came with double the storage and a over sized battery

Drew, My guess is that an antireflection coating was originally present on the surface of the sapphire crystal and most of it was removed by a previous owner using a solvent that normally should not be used to clean Sapphire coated watch crystals. Perhaps acetone?

I purchased a series 3 white ceramic about half a year ago on eBay and it has exactly the same water marks on the edges you describe that is only visible in bright sunlight. No amounts of scrubbing and cleaning seems to remove them

I have a little experience on eBay and rule of thumb for me is to only buy from 99% or higher, and lots of reviews. 97% might not seem like that much lower but it does make a difference in my research. The fact that the seller didn't mention the spots or screen and it came locked are all things that would lead me to leave a bad review. I suggest returning it. It's nice having a piece of history but functionally the Series 7 is the much better option.

When your battery condition goes below 80% you can try a battery replacement at an Apple Store for cheap. Most of the times Apple gives you a new Apple Watch with the same specs.

@@bigleyling3533 yes. Kept se 2 display. I don't know about series 6 cuz it might has a very different internal structure. S6 is a big upgrade with many new hardware functions. Se2 almost shares the same internal as series 5 and deleted the ECG

I sold a watch on eBay and I didn’t properly reset it the new owner wanted my Apple ID and I refused to give it to him I said, just please return the watch and you will get refunded. He said he couldn’t return the watch because he was in the Dominican republic. How lame is that? eBay refunded his money and I still have not gotten my watch back. He said I was a fraud. Well, he’s a thief. It was a gold aluminum for series 5. eBay sucks at times. Seller beware!

Fun fact: when the battery reaches the end of its life 79% or lower Apple will service the watch and typically just replace the whole unit for the cost of a battery! (As long as the product is still supported) I would keep it and try and get the battery health to below 80% just with use and then get it replaced for a like new one by Apple at a low battery rate cost.

Certain software updates will recalibrate the battery. IIRC, there was one recently that did. Use it up before updating, then run the update!

I think you’re wrong. I just brought my Hermes series 5 in for battery replacement. Under AppleCare. They don’t replace it. They send you a brand new watch. I had AppleCare and my cost was zero. I Without AppleCare, $ 399. In your case $ 409 plus $ 399. That is, if they don’t simply replace the battery.
