Not all the breeds in BB will cause physical traits. The Ragdoll is a playful breed that often enjoys playing with water, and the peterbald is a breed that bonds very strongly with their family and are very in tune to their people's emotions. Tabby is also more of a coat pattern rather than a separate breed. BB being that mixed gives him much better odds health wise because he won't be as predisposed to any particular ailment that a cat of 60% or higher of one breed would. Really cool to see this, thank you for posting it!

She will sit in the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, or tub and literally screech for the water to be turned on. But it has to be a VERY small stream. She will also scream at us if her bowl isn't all the way full....she just screams at everyone for a plethera of reasons.

However, another stray came up about 3 years after Bear, a female shorthair. They're very obviously related based on markings. But she DOES have the ear tufts!

If you want a cat, go the shelter, find a cat you like and adopt it.

I've had several breeds of cats, Ragdoll included, and the Ragdoll was the only one that hung like that when picked up. I always thought it was because he was so calm and just didn't want to accidentally hurt anyone. Most of my other cats would curl into themselves like a ball and want to be held like a baby.

I'm getting a tiny calico girl in a little over a month, her family is cool because her mom and some siblings are six-toed, "ship-cats" as they are apparently called! :'D She has a normal amount of toes, though, but I think it was one of her brothers and one sister who had that? Apparently a harmless genetic error, they used to be preferred on ships because they're able to kind of grab on with their "thumbs" :D

Trivia, siamese fur starts naturally pale but darkens in response to high temperature, which is why their noses and paws specifically get so dark as they age. If BB's fur has any of that going on, it could easily darken the ragdoll's naturally pale coat to show more of the patterns he inherits from elsewhere -- and would probably explain any color changes from young kittenhood to adulthood. Likewise, if he's got so much peterbald in him, it sounds very likely that he might hold a few recessive genes for kitty pattern baldness. It doesn't show on him, but if he ever had kittens, I'd suspect there'd be a small chance of getting a single little bald bat-goblin mixed in with the rest.

Actually the opposite! Dark spots on Siamese cats developed from the area that is the coolest as the enzymes that creates the dark pigments develop better in cooler area. During summer they'll shed their winter coat and becomes lighter while in winter they'll developed their winter coat and becomes darker.

my tonkinese (so half siamese) has had her lovely dark paws, nose, tail, ears since we got her, when she was about a year old. the interesting bit for me was seeing pictures of her then - the rest of her body is super pale, while now at 14 her whole body is fairly brown. we don’t live in a cold place either! she really changed with age ahah.

The thing about gene expression is...it's SO nuanced. Features that define distinct breeds or even different SPECIES can be extremely subtle and specific. I had the chance to just barely dip my toes into the intensity of classification while in college. I was assigned to illustrate a newly discovered bug species. I had to use a microscope to check, double check, triple check the precise arrangement of various hairs/spines/joints/etc. Taxonomy is wild.

One of the first things I noticed about BB was how vocal he was! My cat never meows, only if he *really* wants something. How interesting, BB is definitely a "meezer" lol 🤣
