The Epiphone is the closest you could get to Hitori’s guitar without breaking the bank on the actual Gibson. It’s one of the ones I have and I replaced the stock knobs with witch hat knobs for the anime accurate look. I’ve played cheap and expensive guitars and this one doesn’t feel like a stepping stone at all. Nevertheless great video. I like the look of your black custom.

I think you missed out on the Epiphone. The newer Epiphones are as good if not better than the Gibson studios

I probably should have mentioned it, but my only issue with the Epi is the D-shape neck. The Gibson LPS just has a more comfortable neck shape IMO.

I have an Edwards (made by ESP) Les Paul Custom made exclusively for the Japanese Market and it’s really cool because all of the QC done on those guitars are done in the Japanese ESP custom shop after being built in china, but the most beautiful thing about Edwards is that you’d never be able to tell the difference because they feel so good to play. They’re just a step above the LTD Deluxe line in terms of quality so you’re definitely going to get more bang for your buck compared to a standard Gibson Les Paul that goes for the same amount of money, if not moreso.

some Edwards Les Pauls are made in Japan so they are very high quality overall with guarantied reliability, some even have nitro lacquer which ages over time too so yea, Edwards i love it

This. I have a LPC130 and its just as good as my Gibson, Maybach or Eastman. If you're fine with poly lacquer, its probably the best value Les Paul Custom you can get.

For me it wasn´t about the type of guitar, but how I got started to playing guitar because of Anime. For all of you music anime fans I implore you to watch Beck. The anime is from 2004 and has 26 episodes. It finishes around a third of the story after the band rocks their heart and soul out on a rainy day on a crappy stage in front of thousand people. If that is not cool shit, I don´t know what is. You can jump into the manga straight after the event! (chapter 33) There is also a live action movie of it for people who don´t have that much time watching a whole series, which is exceptional and the music, my lord, THE MUSIC. It´s indie rock mixed together with rap metal (very much Rage Against The Machine inspired). My 15 year old self was just blown away and I begged my parents to get a guitar for christmas. It wasn´t a Les Paul like Ryusuke had, but an Epiphone SG-400 because not only did I find out about Beck but also about a certain Australian rockband whose lead guitarist is a jumpy dude with a schoolboy outfit, haha. Man, I just love Rock. Cool video and I hope you have a blast with your new guitar Lorenzo!

Got an used ebony epi custom recently. 21yr model with ebony fretboard!! Had to get case separatley but it looks fabulous, priced decently, sounds great, and the only bad thing is my fingers.. (and slightly high action which I lowered it little bit causing minimal buzzing on the high frets not noticeable through amp sounds)

I’ve got a 1996 LP tribute lite, it also has the ebony Board and the unbound body/neck, they are 100% the best work horse guitars for modding and bashing the shit out of while sounding killer that you can just pick up and play.

Lol My first guitar was a Epiphone SG Ebony Pro because Angus Young and AC/DC was a huge influence in my early years of playing. They're still a big influence on my playing now tho but that was 6-ish years ago (I forget when) And I don't see myself playing anything else but SGs. Something about the guitar build and quality just felt right to me. My hands fit the neck perfectly too. I have tried Les Pauls and they're pretty heavy, but still pretty cool I think. Outside of just "they're heavy" I don't actually know much about Les pauls and I don't actually collect too many guitars. I do know is they look pretty cool. and I've seen this Anime because of Guitar. Its now one of the best musical/band type Anime's I enjoy and I cannot wait for more :) Also that outro was amazing!

The current Epiphone Les Paul Custom isn't just a stepping stone or "newbie" guitar compared to it's early years Epiphone, for me more like a stage guitar where you would bring it on stage instead of the expensive Gibson. I gotta admit that alot of these guitar brands have massive placebo effect on us guitarist (huge guitar brand = good guitar which isn't the case). And again we all want THAT brand of guitar, as I would want a Gibson just to place at home, showing off to any visitors who visit.

I see no reason why you shouldn't have gone for the epiphone. Modern cnc manufacturing tolerances have made sub 1k USD guitars almost indistinguishable from 2k+ guitars in regards to build quality. You're mostly just buying the brand. If the epiphone stays in tune and plays well then it's a good guitar that will last a lifetime if you take care of it, but that goes for all guitars

Epiphones are definitely good guitars, but IMO they require mods (new pickups, electronics, etc) to get the best out of them. I just personally found the Epiphone LPC's neck to be extremely uncomfortable, as it has a D-shape not typically found on Gibsons.

Probably because they get paid to say that. Epiphone is by no means near Gibson, just go to a Guitar store and play both side by side. The feel and materials are just way better on a Gibson. Epiphones are good guitars thought. Just not as good as high end Brands like Gibson, Maybach or Eastman.

Good thing Bocchi bought the Pacifica in the end, otherwise there would have been a lot of people being inspired to give an arm and a leg to own "her" guitar. Btw, "falling apart"; The headstock is a problem of Gibsons for decades now, and it is not natural for guitars, espectially in that kind of price range, to break so easily. If you still want a Gibson from the show for a start, go for the blue Special of the singer.
