For those who watch my Garbage Time car channel, this is the thing I drove 16 hours for and killed original Bruce the ute last year. Adelaide to Melbourne to Adelaide again in one shot, Bruce did it perfect. Next day, Bruce didn't want to play anymore. That huge canopy back transported this kit perfectly as it came with it's original drum bags too! But RIP to Bruce, thanks for helping save this kit 👍 (yes I did drive to Bendigo last week for another kit in Bruce 2, video coming whenever.)

As a piano tuner and tech I can tell you that's actually legitimately how the piano was developed lmao The first piano was like 4 or 5 octaves in the late 17th century and they just kept getting bigger, but there were fluctuations in size over time due to a variety of factors, but it took about 180 years for it to hit the modern sizes
@AfferbeckBeats
@AfferbeckBeats Жыл бұрын
I guess that kinda did happen in the 80s when synths and MIDI exploded. The 80s said, "what if a piano sounded like lasers, and had a whammy bar?" And then dropped off heavily again the next decade.

@@oldgoat381 Yeah, the layout of the modern piano seems like the only obvious way it could be (given the conventions of modern western music anyway), but they only settled on it after trying every other piano shaped thing they could think of.

Yes. Private museum? If it go to a private person with the credibility? Sure safer for the thing being guarded and cared for by a private keeper. And giving a link to the Dankpods channel and all the other stuff? It might actually do a better job at this museum then literately anywhere else with his track record. If just more collectors where this wholesome and giving. I have no idea what he just said about the drum set. But it is very clear that this private museum is going to give as much as it can to people. To enjoy and learn. Not just hoard and keep it private in the sense of being selfish. I just hope the cymbal tossing and car abuse is not going to cause problems in the future. And the dog Frank? It is stuck in a water tank and do nothing all day! What kind dog owner dose that? Clearly the dog is broken. ;9

The importance of Pearl hardware from that era can't be overstated. Prior to then, drum hardware was mostly chintzy or ridiculous expensive. Was never a fan of their drums, but their hardware changed the game.

I'm in Sydney Australia and my first serious kit I bought in 1994, it was a German made Sonor Force 3000, 5 piece kit with excellent hardware. I added Zildjian K series hats, 16'' & 18'' crash, 18'' China & 20'' ride. That year, after tax my weekly take home pay was $360. The Sonor kit was just over $4000 and would you believe the Zildjian K's came to a total of $2300. Add in a set of cases and suddenly it's $7000. I could have bought a USA Fender Stratocaster and a Marshall JCM 900 with a cabinet, and gone on a holiday with the change.

Dude - I’m in an airport at 2am right now and the JOY this video brings me is unreal! Not only is that kit a beast, the idea that you’re creating an open source drum sounds library, totally free, is incredible! Thank you man, you’re one hell of a good guy! 👏👏👏

After drumming for four years on and off your channel has seriously reignited my passion for drums... Picked up a gretsch catalina club maple kit off an old teacher for $500 a week ago. Best purchase ever. Please keep making videos. As many as possible. Much love from Arkansas USA.

This is so awesome! I seriously only started watching your Dank Pods channel a couple years ago and to see your passion turn into several channels and a museum is just so cool. I've not really known much about drums but it's been excellent learning more about them and appreciating the subtle nuances that each cymbal, tom and snare bring... even the terrible ones. 😂 Really pleased for you, man.

As a drummer I’ve been loving this channel. I think it would be really interesting to see you do a vid about the history of signature snare drums.

this is so cool!! I love hearing people be super passionate about their practice! I know next to nothing about drums or jazz, but as an artist who’s also nuts about the history of their crafts and tools I love this channel. your enthousiasme makes it interesting.

Hearing you play that thing at the end was so much fun! I hope you put out something soon of you just playing that thing (maybe a drum stream even?) cos I'd love to hear more of it!

Seeing a clearly well loved piece of equipment moving to a new owner who very obviously loves and cares for it is fantastic. Whether it be drums, tools, or anything else that's just a thing that makes me smile. The drums clearly have a good home there and were special to the previous owner.

I’ve been a drummer my whole life and my biggest influences were 80s metal drummers. That is such a beautiful kit and I’ve always wanted one like that. You’re so lucky

Having a giant 80's drumset has been one of the best decisions I've ever made as a musician. The amount of just pure fun is way worth the time spent setting up

Holy crap I would pay lost of money to come visit this. This is something my dad would have absolutely froth'd over if he were still here, loved his vintage 80s kit, and loved the history of drums. This is amazing and also as a music producer I am thoroughly looking forward to the website and samples.
