Awasome cymbal! I would love this, actually as a metal drummer I never use a ride as a crash. I need my ride only for the PING sound and cutting bell sound, so it's the thicker and heavier the better.

I used a Z only for the bottom hi-hat cym and a Paiste sig 13" for the top. It worked good in that combination. The Z is heavy.

You should redo this but instead of making them segmented and gluing them, you should have an outside spiral working towards middle.

I actually like it with the paint. Gives the cymbal this mix of crashing and gonging when you hit it with full force.

Have you tried the Vic Firth Questlove Signature sticks? They sound exactly like you're describing at the end. They're similar to the Vater Sweet Rides, but they're an inch longer but have an acorn tip and a long taper.

Sounds great. I have a 22" Dream Cymbals Dark Matter Moon Ride that sounds kinda similar for anyone looking for a current production super heavy and dark ride. I was on the hunt for the darkest sounding ride i could find and stumbled upon it in my local drum shop. I preferred it over the Paiste dark energy mk2 Ride that was also in the shop. Im going to look for an earth ride now to be my left side ride.

The Krut sounds like those "gongs" they use at Sumo-ringin. It has this Specific "thooong 'kssss" init

Actually I had the z heavy power crash and the z heavy power ride way back when I was a kid in the late 80s I played all hard rock and I absolutely love that cymbal... The sound was pretty dark and wide open for rock and roll of the time... Remember sabian actually had a line of unlathed cymbals as well they were called the lion I had one of those rides and I regret ever selling it many decades ago... Needless to say I love my Paiste rude and color sound setup!!!! 24 inch eclipse mega Bell
