Putting a pop socket on your kindle is a game changer and makes it easier to hold when reading! Kindle normally shows the page # if you click the time left (it changes to show page #, time left in chapter and time left in book). You can also see page # when you’re in the book by clicking towards the top and a top and bottom “border” will pop up. The top should show like your settings and the bottom will show what page you’re on.

I've watched a lot of videos on the Kindle Paperwhite, but now I'm glad that I'd bought the Kindle Oasis. It was an investment I made to read more and have the portability & privacy to read without people knowing what I was reading and how far into the book I am. Plus, I have a tendency to read more than one book around the same time before finishing them. If people are curious, I'd prefer to keep an air of mystery than make it obvious what I'm reading (which might be a fanfic). :P

i have a kobo since 2018 and it’s still great for me, it doesn’t lag or anything and even tho transferring the files requires a laptop i still prefer it to the kindle. also because when i bought it in my country kindle wasn’t even there yet (i know weird but 🤷‍♀️)and the few places that had kindle it was double expensive from the kobo, i don’t know just small things that makes me a kobo girly forever. I recently bought this one after my first kindle just stopped working. This one is soo good, when I set it up it had ALL of my books on it including my audiobooks, the books I downloaded on my phone app and everything. It’s so amazing! As a physical book girl all my life I was apprehensive about the kindle when my sister bought me my first one 10+ years ago, but once I started reading on it I absolutely loved it. E-Readers are so convenient and portable. Instead of taking 3-5 books with me in my bag everywhere I just take my kindle!

Just stumbled across your channel and subscribed. I recently bought both a Kobo Clara 2E, and the same Kindle Paperwhite as you. I love both. The only reason I got both is that Kindle doesn't let me borrow library books in Canada, but Kobo does lol. But also, I read a lot of ARC ebooks, and it's easier to put those on my Kindle. Love how you decorated it! I put stickers all over both my readers as well as a pop socket on each. I didn't get a clear case though, and might end up regretting that...But I did make some book sleeves which I'm using for a little added protection in my bag.

Ahh I went the other way! I went from KPW to Kobo Clara 2E. The new one is waterproof, there’s a sale, plus I’m supporting a Japanese brand over Amazon. My heart skipped a beat when you said you went from Clara to KPW, and relaxed a bit when you talked about why 😂😂 enjoy your paperwhite!

I love the entire video. I hope you enjoy your kindle! But I recommend to get a cover for it, the screen protector only will make the screen non glare free and the screen get scratch pretty easy. I saw some that have a stand and an elastic, I'm waiting for mine to arrive. And your drawings were so beautiful!

my work around thing for the page numbers is just a little math (its easy i promise ahaha) basically just look on goodreads how many pages the book is (like the physical copy not the ebook copy) and then times that by the percentage that you are in the book, and it'll give you a rough page number! like say its a 300 page book and you are 20% through, you'd get page 60! i like to track my reading daily by how many pages i read that day so this is helpful because i pretty much only read 🏴‍☠books lolz

For me, highlighting across pages on my Kobo works the same as it works on a Kindle. Also, I feel like your Clara HD is a bit more buggy/slower because of the processor. If I’m correct the newer Kobos are (a bit) faster. But all the same, I loved watching your video and I can definitely see why you chose the Kindle!!🩷🩷

use calibre on your computer and transfer the doc to azw3 format, you do have to connect your kindle to your computer for this but you get page numbers. I use it for bonus scenes and extra scenes from author websites

I graduated uni in May last year and you can (hopefully) expect your current student plan subscriptions to stick around for 6 months to a year before they cut u off for being a graduate! I think it took about 8 months before I stopped being able to sign up for student plans or get student discounts! Kinda varies from place to place (I'm US Based) I think my amazon prime account still believes im a student and charges me the student rate a year later

You can look at your settings and it will tell you the model you have. Select all settings < devices options < device info Then at the top it shouldn’t say kindle (what type and generation). Hope that helps and you can customize it 👏🏻

With the thing about ads, it depends on which one you get! I’m from England and I paid £10 more to get the version without the ads but if you get the version with the ads, you can pay later to get rid of them. A little bit annoying but then again, this is Jeff we’re talking about 🙃

I used to have the kindle paperwhite and it just died one day lol I do not know why it just never turned on again and it was new! I read somewhere that if you leave them standing up like on a bookshelf for a long time they just die. Fun fact- someone did the rough maths and 8gb kindle- giving roughly 4gb (its more like 6) would hold roughly 8000 ebook. hii, I edit the epubs on Calibre, you can change the cover and spacing and even convert to other formats if you'd want to. All my covers show on kindle after I transfer them :)

For your kindle, I use to have the case you had until I realized I had scratches on my screen due to constantly carrying my kindle with me in various places. I would highly recommend getting a screen protector if you are going to stick with that case.

That's a good point. I love the cute clear cases with the pictures inside, but there's never a cover. I would much rather have a black case with a cover if it means I keep my screen pristine. Plus I just stick stickers on the top!

Kindle is way way better than kobo in terms of usability and actually getting the book on the device. The only issue is the on off button being on the bottom so when you're reading it on a hard surface or in the bath on a bath rack, it switches off.
