I actually got a Kraken in ranked myself in my Schlieffen about a month ago, but it wasn't even the best part. The best part was me predicting enemy Marceau's movement, hitting him with a torpedo, and then getting a blindfire kill on him.

Did one like that last season as well but we had no dds. I joked in chat that as the only ship with torps (covering both teams) in the match I should be the dd and cap. Well things went bad, reds went lemming train, my team went wide behind an island and I met all but one red. Started with detonating a GK and steamrolled through from there, some 550+ secondary hits, hit most of the torps and had something like 8 cits with 20 total hits because it was all point blank brawling. Match lasted 7 minutes, I only lasted 5 but got the kraken leaving my team to mop up the stalin who went to the opposite cap.

@@xsu-is7vq I'll be honest I kinda thought it was lost, it was a total yolo because I got cocky but the kills after GK all came really close together. My team wasn't bad, they just played the safe game and it meant I could farm up the highest damage I've had in a ranked match in a really short amount of time. But if they lost 5v1 I'd have been pissed. Have to say it was the most fun game ever because the reds allowed it and my team were too slow to take it away from me.

Got my first ranked Kraken with Ohio not too long ago. The enemy Shimakaze detonating from a single secondary hit was definitely a highlight.

Some of the decisions I made to win all my ranked games.......I played the Sherman....serious note, great video and good advice on play style.

Splitting DDs works only when you can win 1v1 or be somewhat equal (Shima vs. Halland workd, Sherman vs. anything works, too). Being on the enemy team Kleber + Ragnar, the better option would definitely be to stick together, kill the DD on your on one flank and then split.

Man, I got the Nap a long time ago and had the meme secondary build on it, and then found out/realized how tanky the Nap really is.. and wow, it's a tough ship..

@@db2157 I have always ran the secondary build, i find it lets me kill dds easier since the HE is pretty bad and I dont often shoot at distant targets, i stay dark and sneak closer

My ranked experience for this season has been watching gunboat DDs run from shimakaze lol. GK has been awesome for me but if they win the DD game, you’re dead. It’s just a question of when the wall of skill is gonna pop up between hydros.

Do you prefer cruiser play or DD play? Napoli works very well as a moving shot spammer who can dodge shots and lay in a steady HE/AP fire, and then push later in the game and brawl it out. I've had amazing games in her, but not by sitting behind an island indirect firing. I don't own the Sherman she looks like the ultimate smoke gunboat with fast firing spam. Basically her DPM and health pool are are her strengths, but if she is caught out by radar/focused she tends to go down fast. I want her though, in the right position I've seen that DPM do some crazy damage.

I actually found it much better to double up with another DD in ranked because it gives you so much more firepower. I'd rather give up a CAP but have the chance to kill a DD than the other way around, especially in ranked where there are less ships. Each kill is worth a lot.

Agreed, especially if I am in a unique/weaker DD that either doesn't have smoke or cannot reliably win a 1v1. It depends a lot of the ships in the game, and where the other players go. At the very least it may mean a trade instead of losing a ship. I will say most of my games are spent splitting the DD's up though, but I try not to die early for a cap.

Agree to both but if you are doing this, suggest to turn off your chat cos BBs and CL/CA will flood the chat with sarcastic “Well Dones” and curses. Such an annoying distracting nuisance…if they would have just played differently, why not just take a Dd to battle instead right?

Oooh this reminds me of my first ranked Kraken! It was in my Audacious, 242k dmg, 5 Kills, almost 6. I got quite lucky with fire RNG and matchmaking to be honest, but it was very fun.

Yawn…another HE spam promo video for WG freemium, which will encourage more of the same META. BBs won’t push cos who wants to get peppered to death by a pea shooter they can’t do anything at and tech tree DDs get power crept back to the port. IMHO, there are too many freemium gunboat OP DDs and not enough freemium torpboat OP DDs
