Was always thinking these rotary types seem better suited for clearing and then your older/other style would be great for maintaining land once you cleared it once. Awesome rig and looking forward to the learning curve....
@idigit4967

Yeah that's actually a good point there Fred, the mulchers are better at the initial clearing, particularly if it's larger diameter material and the rotary is much better at maintaining it in the future.

Congrats!!! Waiting on my rotary mulcher for my JD50G. Have been told that some manufacturers use the case drain set up for lubrication and carry that fluid back, as well as pressure relief. Pretty simple to add so I had it added just in case I ever ran across an attachment that required it. Just so happens that the Rut attachment requires it. Anxious to get mine and see what it’s capable of

Thank Joey! I'm telling you, I've put 14 good, hard hours of mulching on this thing between today and Friday and this thing just eats trees and craps mulch. I'm super impressed so far, my only complaint is that it's a tad heavy for this machine but not to the point its unusable. On a Deere 60g or Tak TB260 or a Cat 306 it wouldn't be a problem due to the weight or tailswing of those machines. I can cut and mulch over this side of the tracks you just have to be on stable, flat ground and move a bit slower. But yeah, if you got any questions about it let me know! Thanks man!

@blownaway4371
@blownaway4371 3 жыл бұрын
You talked about the Cutter/head. But what type of fluid runs it? Just regular "yella-bucket" tractor hydraulic fluid? Also, does your Kubota have a 'cooler' for the fluid? And you stated that the other cutting/mulching head had a piston driven motor. Do you think that the "external" motor would take the load off the excavator engine itself? I'm up near Memphis area, and thought about changing jobs (put money in MY POCKET instead of someone else's) But we have Kudzu. Do/have you cleared any "VINEY" type of ground? Just wanted to know if it can get all bound up by the vines/briars.. Also, (if you don't mind me asking) Do you charge by the hour or square foot?

This machine actually runs very cool, though that doesn't mean it can't catch on fire. Any machine doing forestry is at a danger of catching fire, doesn't matter what brand it is. The local Cat dealer has had several of their rental skid steers with mulchers go up in flames and that's why they don't rent them anymore. My Deere caught fire last year cutting broomstraw, but luckily I was able to get it out before there was too much damage, just a burnt wire and a few singed hoses. I know several other Deere skid have caught fire here locally as well just from talking to the mechanics at the local dealer. It happens, just got to keep your machines clean and be aware at all times and have INSURANCE!

@@brandonescoe9980 Yeah the Takeuchi's are great, I got my hands on a TB 235-2 and I was super impressed with it. The TB260 with flat out out-perform this U55 all day long in every aspect. The main thing I really like about the U55 is that I don't have to worry about the tailswing in tight areas. I have heard nothing but good things about the ASV's when it comes to mulching.

@@idigit4967 I want the 290. For the type of work I do I have to have a 18,000 to 22,000lb machine. I can't remember the model number but Takeuchi makes a 28000lb machine and I would get it with steel tracks but when I get rid of my Kubota excavator and get a 290 I will get it with the steel link and bolt on rubber pads. Personally any excavator over 12000lbs should come standard with that set up. Kubota has to be a special order for that type of track where most all other major brands have it as a normal option or you can get rubber tracks but on heavy machines rubber tracks put a lot of stress on the undercarriage because they stick to the ground more. I am pretty sure all small excavators don't have any tail swing. Also the hydraulics in ASV is what sets them apart. I can climb a hill with a bucket full of dirt in high and lose maybe 200 rpms and the same hill in the 870 with a bucket of dirt I have to go back to low in order to get up it
