I like the capo, just had the shock set in though! Just finished the first ten beginner lessons, working through them a second time for accuracy and clarity in my CC, Cabbage & Hollow. I have to rest my social finger as my pads are as yet not developed enough - I been overdoing it! I have a Epiphone banjo belonging to my spouse. It was lying about and I grabbed it when watching lesson one. Looking at a Gold Tone open back as a possible future present. I love the sound, & fancy learning a little old time and possibly some Irish trad. Loving the huge resource of lessons. I get a wonderful choice of songs and ditties. Many, many thanks. I'll see you again really soon.

@@JimPankey It's the best. Place it behind the fret. Tighten and play. No "maybe a tad this or that way". It's ready. Just play.

Cool video! I never really understood the difference between cheaper and more high end capos. That's really cool that you just slide it on and everything is good. I have a Paige and I just put it on pretty tight and then retune. It works, but something like that would be cool to look into someday.
@JimPankey2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Paige works fine, but you have to be careful not to over tighten when you're trying to get even contact on all the strings. That's why I demonstrated the rocking trick that I use. Ultimately, it's just about allowing yourself to enjoy enjoy nice gear and not find yourself always looking for the cheapest thing to use and get by with...

Great information - thanks! I have a G7th capo for my acoustic guitar and I really like it, so I'll need to check that one out. Is that Grandpa Jones on the wall in the background?

@@JimPankey Dollar's all I crave - fifteen cents to buy me a drink and a dollar to dig my grave. Grandpa Jones was my late father's favorite banjo player when I was growing up. My favorite is Raining Here This Morning. Oddly enough, he plays guitar in that recording and not the banjo.
@shannonmaness62142 жыл бұрын
Hey Mr. Jim, Do you think or know if G7 has any plans for a gold version for standard banjo? They make these for the guitar but I don't see them for banjo. I have a new gold banjo that I would like one for.. Just thought you might know as you are "the man"! Thank Jim for all your content!

Jim I noticed your tee shirt . 👏🪕 I just watched a video on the Heritage Capo . It’s rather impressive !
@JimPankey2 жыл бұрын
Yes... That Heritage is a really nice capo for sure.
@archtopp12 жыл бұрын
I bought the Heritage and i sent it back as you can't replace the rubber and no one has a replacement. Heritage told me that it won't wear out and i just sent the capo back. Yes, it's made well but i have owned many capos...i have 2 Mckinney's and an Elliot and the sleeve has to be turned and replaced. My Shubbs need to have the rubber replaced after constant use.. Just my 2 cents.

Jim, I use a kyser capo on my Gold Tone OB-3.I find that I have to retune every time I use it no matter how careful I am putting it on. Is this a flaw in the Kyser, or is it always necessary to retune when using a capo?
@JimPankey2 жыл бұрын
The Kyser is not adjustable, so it generally goes on too tight and causes your instrument to go out of tune.
@JoeBoppyBop2 жыл бұрын
@@JimPankey okay, yes that makes sense. Thank you Jim. I guess it is time to get a different capo.
