I've had the Holcomb SE for several months and it's hands down the best guitar I have ever felt in my hands, it plays beautifully, it sounds amazing... 10/10 will buy again for the 7 string.

I normally prefer a myriad of six strings, but with less room to use at the moment I use a seven and a capo so I don't have to restring and retune all the time.

A really easy one I learned right away to gain some confidence playing a seven string guitar was Bloom by Of Mice & Men. Really simple but really heavy as well its in Drop A if I remember

I really appreciate the fact, that PRS SE's started looking more premium than before. A couple of years ago it looked like a budget skateboard with strings. Now, it looks pretty good. Cheers Sophie!

Hi Sophie, I just got my 1st SE guitar, & u r right, they do have slightly fatter & wider necks. Mine is listed as Pattern Thin, but still feels a tad fat & wide. I tried a Custom 24 Pattern Thin & the neck was much more comfortable for me to play.

Spiritbox - Hurt You (Mainly the Intro) I find that when I pick up my 7, i usually play around with those chords because theyre really easy and sound heavy in the lower drop tunings. Bad Omens - Artificial Suicide cuz it just fuckin slaps

I think you should try something from Archspire with that. Their album "Relentless mutation" has one guitarist with a 7 string and one with an 8 string guitar, I think you can find something you'd enjoy

I have this guitar, It's really good, I did notice after I got my new Mesa Dual Rectifier Roadster head, that the bridge pickup was microphonic and basically unplayable without a noise gate. I hope yours is fine because the guitar is great.

So sick!! Love the holcomb models. As for song/riff suggestions, the first one that comes to mind is the pre chorus from it's only smiles. Snowblood or Gungrave by Erra are both a ton of un too. Anything by northlane or invent animate

0:56 I used to tune one of my 6-string guitars like a 7-string just had no High E so like a Baritone Tuning but no Gb/F# but the thing wouldn’t stay in tune, so I stopped doing it

One of the first songs I learned when I got my first 7 was Mata Hari by Intervals and it's still one of my favorite songs to play. Also love playing Lucid by Polaris, those breakdown riffs are so much fun.

you can try flat wound strings, I've been using them for over 4 years, there is a loss of acoustic, but the grit is better.

Isn't "The Animal" by Steve Vai from "Passion and Warfare" done on a 7 string? That was his introduction of his Universe series of 7 string guitars to the world. And if you're going to practice something, you can't go wrong with anything from Vai. Especially *THAT* album! lol

Have this one for 1,5 years, here are my thoughts. 1) Locking tuners are needed; 2) 26.5 scale is still a bit noodley for drop G low strings and requires a bit more fingers stretch for high strings. (I use Elixir set for 8 string, i put the 8th instead of 7th). I got multiscale Ormsby after this guitar and I barely touch the PRS. On the other side pickups on PRS are more agressive, metalish. So probably it works great for Mark, but doesn't really works for me. At least in terms of comfort.

I think you are Brave to venture into 7 Strings Pushing the envelope further. when I was your age you couldn't even buy a half decent guitar. Britan put an embargo on USA 🎸 guitars. I was very ignorant about electric ⚡ instruments. I put my trust in a lady who owned Chaimberlins Musical instrument store in WIGAN. She said for 25 Quid she had some good guitars coming in. When it arrived it was the largest Super jumbo acoustic from Finland called Landola. I was Gutted I tried to play it 😅 but it was like grappling with my Granny's Wardrobe 😂. I’m a huge Nevermore fan so I’ve been down the 7 string rabbit hole for almost two decades. You should learn some of their tunes if you haven’t already, Jeff is still the 7 string master in my opinion! Also Conquering Dystopia and the first Alluvial album stuff is sick, Keith Merrow is obviously another 7 string god.
