4:35 The thumbnail/Ninji level. It actually seemed like a decently well-made level with good aesthetics. Note the sky train and the front engine that looks like a Banzai bill. Not sure how well it would work as a Versus race level or Ninji speedrun, but absent those things it seems pretty nice. Also made by a rival company, Toad CEO. ;)

Technically the lag isn't Nintendo's fault. Multiplayer is peer-to-peer in Mario Maker which means the lag is as bad as the worst participant's internet connection. No amount of programming can get around that as long as they're using peer-to-peer connections which, in an interactive platforming game like this, is the only real option.
