Certain colors definitely compliment your skin, but others make your eyes pop more. I feel like you could pull off most colors depending on what features you're looking to highlight.

i think this is the case with a lot of people!! It’s also why colour analysis is so cool, because you can use colour contrast to highlight different parts of you (like eyes, hair or blush etc) 💓

Also anything you wear on your lower half doesn't matter as much to complimenting skin and any accessories simply depend on whether you want to look classic and natural or add a niche and quirkiness to your style! Colour analysis isn't black and white especially when it comes to style. Like you said some stuff cam pop the eyes such as a head scarf or trousers to pull in the eyes to the lower outfit etc! ❤love these videos

I think this is the first colour analysis I've seen where I actually like their approach. Giving you plenty of options and not making you feel like you can exclusively wear "your colours", asking and respecting your input, etc. She seems like such a great consultant!

I got my colors "done" back when Color Me Beautiful was popular. I was 18 and honestly it just confused me and had me making very bizarre color choices that did not suit me or anyone. I remember they said I was a Summer and I could only wear watermelon reds which are pinks. I felt like it interfered with my own inner voice about what looks good one me based on trying something on and looking in the mirror. It is like someone tells you what food tastes good and what doesn't taste good when you can just eat and know. With color I could just look and know. Maybe they do a better job now, than color me beautiful.

Many color/ style consultants now use the 12 or 16 season system which is more inclusive and also takes into account POCs. The CMB system was mainly based on white/ Caucasian people.

This is really interesting seeing it done in Asia. I’ve seen a few videos similar to this, but done in America. Most of the time, they choose what colors will accentuate and sharpen your features, as opposed to going for the “smoothest” look. I’d be curious to see you do this is America and compare the results - I’m assuming they would be almost completely opposite! It’s cool to the see the differences in what objectives people and cultures have

I was gifted with a color analysis and, as an extreeeeeam gothic, my priority was finding the shades who enhance my purple undereyes, the shadows of my sunken angular face and the natural yellowiness of my skin in order to look like a wax sculpture😅. So, absolutely, a true pro will ask you "how do you want to look?" first of all and won' t take anything for granted. The palette she suggested can' t make me look more sick and gloomy, I love it😉 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

Good point. Also I was thinking that Ms.Hye-jun being the Korean speaking staff probably don't see many westerners come through as much as the English speaking staff and hence probably have a different outlook on western looks.

I love this! I’ve seen other color analysis videos where they tell the client to really only stick to one limited group of colors. But I love that here they give you different options in the other seasons. It’s way more realistic to how we actually shop throughout the seasons. Also, I love the little bit of history about this at the beginning. Didn’t know this came out of the Bauhaus movement.

It's not just about the colors of the background. You get the bouncing of light from the colors you wear to the colors on your face. If you look at a photograph and colorpick a shadow on a face, you'll find that there are little traces of the shirt color on the skin of their face / bodies. What you wear literally changes the colors of the shadows on your face, ever so slightly.

honestly great video! i feel like the choices however are also very strongly influenced by the general cultural notion in korea that a "bright" "clean" and also "conformist" image is accepted and valued more than a "dark" "edgy" and "nonconformist" one. so just keep that in mind when considering your personal value in your style :) you might very much go for your usual black and just try to combine and experiment with these colors a bit in a fun way. the textile color swatch swapping was very satisfying to watch tho!

Looking at undereye circles, whether your skin looks yellow or green, and the cheeks is a good way of doing it. I may have missed it, but it also helps to think in terms of: do I see the colour first, or the person? A colour that is in harmony allows the person to be seen first.

Besides this being an awesome and very interesting video - I'm curious now as to what mister-blurry-face did. If you don't mind me asking, what happened?🤔I found 'going psycho' a little vague, hence the question. And to go back to the topic - I think that I belong somewhere in (dark) winter as I am quite pale myself and I found myself agreeing with Ellbat a lot when it came to certain color schemes. My personal style/aesthetic is something called 'Dark Academia', which mostly corresponds to 'Dark Winter' - but I am not an stylist so I could be totally wrong here. 🤷‍♀ I wonder if you can get these color analyses done outside of Korea 'cus I would love to get one for myself 😌 Can't wait to see what the next video entails!

OK this is a VERY long story but I am sure others will ask: I hired him as a translator for 2 shoots and a videographer for 1 shoot before coming to Korea. I had never met him. He claimed to be a professional videographer, yet after he sent me the footage from the very first shoot, that was clearly not the case. the footage was so bad i couldn't use any of it. I thankfully hired 2 videographers for that specific shoot so had enough footage to save the video, but he could've ruined the whole shoot because he lied about his experience and abilities. That evening, he sent me awful texts demanding that he be made the videographer on all of my shoots despite the fact that his footage was bad. I refused by saying that he was hired as a translator for those shoots, which he knew. I didn't want to insult him and so I didn't (at this point) mention how he clearly lied about his videography experience as I still had 2 other shoots with him and wanted to be professional. He continued to be rude. i wanted to tell him not to come to the remaining shoots but at such late notice (1 day), i couldn't get another translator. He apologised once i met him at Cocory. I tried to be professional and tell him that it was fine and to forget about it. However, during the shoot, he repeatedly put himself in front of the camera for no valid reason (I believe for exposure) and the translation help that he provided was terrible. He barely communicated any of what Hee Joo said, often simplifying it to "that looks good" or "that's bad" instead of communicating her insight and so I had to rely on my own Korean. On the final shoot the next day, he continued to offer very poor translation. Thankfully, they had an in-house translator who really was wonderful and helped out. After a few hours I asked him to leave as he was no longer needed. He refused to leave and demanded to be paid on the spot, despite us still being in the middle of filming a video. When i reminded him that the contract said he needed to submit an invoice for the hours worked, it needed to be checked/approved and paid within 7 days, he began to scream at me in front of everyone in the salon. I asked him to come outside where he continued screaming at me and recording me on his phone, demanding to be paid more money than he was owed. He then began calling me a scammer and threatening to "ruin me" when i refused. i tried to explain that he needed to calm down and leave as he was disturbing everyone and being unprofessional; he then went back inside to harass the staff and slander me in korean. This was particularly embarrassing as I had been invited to film there as a guest to make the video - I was not a paying client and this left me mortified. after an hour of him screaming, i just started crying because i didn't know what to do and told the videographer that we should call the police. he eventually left after i wrote a new on-paper contract with him, but he ruined the shoot and i had to formally apologise to everyone in the salon because of his behaviour. He was a 34 year old man. I later talked to a lawyer about whether or not I should pay him given that he ruined two shoots etc. After their advice, I paid him in full for his translation services (which were very bad) and despite the lawyer saying I didn't need to pay him for the videography work as it was unusable - I still offered to pay him a reduced fee for his time. This is on top of paying for all his food and drink whilst on set. Unbelievably, he attempted several times to negotiate a higher rate for his videography work, despite his behaviour and the awful result of his footage. I did not offer him a higher rate, but still paid the original reduce rate I offered and then I blocked him. Genuinely one of the most horrifying professional experiences I've ever had because I felt absolutely cornered and trapped. very scary and unhinged man (i also love dark academia fashion and colour schemes so was very chuffed with my deep winter secondary colour!!)

I’m glad it got sorted out, even after the whole ordeal of him being super unprofessional. But him calling you a “scammer” whilst blatantly lying about his skill - or lack thereof I should say - is quite ironic as it seems to me that he indirectly “scammed” you in a sense by lying to you. I don't know why or whom but we knew our colors growing up? Maybe it was because of my mom she had olive tone to her skin and she just absorbed the knowledge when they did her I just saw someone else getting there colors done in Korea I'm from the states so I don't know how my mom learned it but I'm glad she did because I'm pale my dad's a ginger and I have one sister who has olive and one with freckles!😂 I enjoyed this and I look forward to seeing you get dolled up!🧡💜🧡

I remember having the 'Colour Me Beautiful', book, but alas it didn't work well for me as I have dark brown skin and there were no options for that in the first edition. Having watched numerous colour analysis videos, what I dislike is that it is a lot of information to take in one go and the colour swatch thing always seems too fast for the customer to really see themselves.

It's a bit of both. Colour theory can be objective and subjective. Things like colour contrast and temperature tones are pretty objective, but how you use them depends on your preferences. For example, black makes my eyes look dark and my jawline strong - whilst that might not be ideal for someone who wants to present a more feminine image, if I'm going for androgyny: it's perfect. That's why its a good blend of objective/subjective! It depends on what image YOU want to create

I think she should try to get her color analysis done in the UK as well, just to see if the answers differ. The lady that did her test did not take into account her eye color. I thought eye color was also important for color analysis.

This was so interesting to watch! I am deeply confused what they messure and i really have to say i am not a person who cares about my look a lot and find it dangerous to try to be perfect and strive for that 'I have to look good to feel good' thing. BUT: It's so strange that i had often same thoughts in mind when the very nice lady place the colours down. I was often same opinion in the first second. And this really drives me nuts because: I also just wear 98% black. I like the gothic look very much, very dark colours, most on me. If i was honest to myself like i was honest to juge your fitting colours... i am scared of what would become of me. I have to say this sounds intrigueing... but i probably would be shocked of my own imageloss the rest of my life LOL. And really that dark grey was heavenly on you. But i would never shop dark grey clothes. NEVER. But maybe i also should give it a go and trust the experts more once i am brave enough to see i am more a barbiegirl then a goth femme fatale LOL. Remember: colour analysis is an objective AND subjective science. So, what you *want* to appear as also matters! Korea idealises a clean and bright appearance, so we angled towards colours that best suited that vision because I was interested in matching that standard. However !!! Black gave me a strong look with high contrast & androgyny, which I also love projecting, it just wasn’t the *goal* for this analysis. Colour analysis can show you what certain colours can project about you, but it doesn’t mean you can’t wear them - it just tells you what they project about you given your existing colours !! 💓💓

I've had my colours done too. I thought it was an older fancy lady thing? My grandma was fancy like that. I used an app that also taught fashion/style classes which were pretty cool but it's expensive monthly subscription and I could probably trial/error it out myself. They allowed me to mention which colours are also my personal preference and if they were out of the colour range how to accent with them i.e. tanktop in one colour but a sweater open over top in one of my Colours. I also did research as to actresses that were the same Season as I (True Summer) and that helped for dressier looks. They also had a personal shopper that you could communicate with and I have a bunch of wishlisted cute clothes. I already had a large portion of the casual clothes and accessories that were suggested. I also did a Capsule Wardrobe which was a lot of fun (I'd actually like someone to do again but stylists are pricey). I was planning on doing a video and shorts on it as practice for one of my Film Studies classes but the app ended up being scammy and I cancelled my subscription. 5:44 - I was already getting agro vibes off him. I'm still watching, maybe something weird was going on?

You have a mistake in your video - it was not Carole Jackson who expanded the 4 season system into 12 seasons. She just popularized the concept that came before her and simplified it. It was actually Suzanne Caygill (she was like Robert Dorr inspired by Johannes Itten's work) who first spoke of seasons and had a more complex 4 season system with subcategories. Later Carole took this idea and made it her own. After Carole, there were several color analysts who felt unhappy with the lacking system of only 4 seasons and one of them was Kathryn Kalisz who was a student of the master colorist and art teacher Munsell, who also invented the Munsell Color Theory, that expanded the traditional 4 seasons into 12 with neutral warm, neutral cool undertones and adding in that element of Chroma (Bright or soft). Before they only focused on the undertone and value of a person which led to a majority of problems with people being wrongly analyzed.

You could definitly pull some colours that are darker than those. Maybe with just a bit more colour. Most of the south korean colour analysis videos I see they seem to recommend the light pallette. The fact that she didnt recomend light makeup for you makes me think that that light colours are not your best colours.

Start with the monochrome section!! I think it’s most clear there; you’re looking for a brightness and “clearness” in my complexion that fades when other colours are shown. The white makes my face bright, and the black really doesn’t add anything. then once you’ve got it, go back to the beginning and it’s a lot easier!! 💓

She is such a classical summer type, it doesnt need any test to check. its so striking. however, the colors used for checking are pretty bad in my eyes, i.e. the summer tones look like spring tones and even soft autumn tones. summer is known for grey tones and they are almost completely missing in these tissues plus they are not cold enough. this is evident at 11:13 where you can see how spring colors look and thats exactly what she showed before in a lighter version but calls it summer.

This should be a standard thing done for everyone. It would be so much better to have this done, then use these colors to shop to sace so much time and energy.

yeah no I cant tell the difeerence as far a as skin tone goes, but some of those palettes se moved in front of you do make your eyes pop more and that I can see. But this is still very hard for me to understand.

This is handy for me because I think we have almost exactly the same colouring, including eyes and hair! Except I'm Australian haha

@@Ellbat oh wowww!! Yeahhh, there were scouts from 14 to 17 years old (and volunteers 18 and older) We all got evacuated in 1 day and we ended up at the fire academy!! It was an amazing experience!! Everything but what I could ever expect, but it was great;) 🤩🤩❤️
